Trade Ally Workshops Session Descriptions 8:45 AM SESSIONS: Natural Gas Utility Incentive Program Updates Paige Finnegan, Franklin Energy and John Mansfield, Resource Solutions Group What s new? Representatives from the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program and the Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Natural Gas Savings Programs will provide a detailed review of incentives available for the installation of high-efficiency natural gas-saving equipment. This session will provide information on new incentives available this program year, an overview of qualifying equipment, and details of how to participate. Learn how to save customers thousands of dollars and increase sales of high-efficiency natural gas-saving equipment by utilizing these programs. Indoor Lighting Updates Erin Daughton and John Delany, ComEd This session provides an overview of the latest incentives and instant discounts for indoor lighting available through ComEd s Smart Ideas for Your Business program. Joint Gas & Electric Programs Overview Utility panel discussion The utilities have partnered to offer programs that allow a single project to receive both gas and electric incentives. These programs include Retro-Commissioning, New Construction, and Small Business Energy Savings. Some custom projects also qualify for both incentives. A representative from these programs will review how these programs operate, and let you know how you and your customers can participate. The Integrated Approach to Winning and Implementing Big Projects Tom Johanson and Bill Beattie, DNV KEMA Winning and implementing big projects the projects with multiple measures and multiple buildings, maybe even several locations require a different mindset. You ll need to form alliances with other trade allies and learn to integrate your sales, your planning, your equipment and your installation. Tom Johanson and Bill Beattie will present the engineering and sales points of view on the large integrated project. 9:45 AM SESSIONS: Codes and Energy-Efficiency Upgrades Darren Meyers, International Energy Conservation Consultants, LLC Annual construction and mechanical code changes impact the installation of many efficiency upgrades. A variety of sources are available to keep you abreast of these changes. We ll give you an update on the newest changes, and where you can obtain training.

DCEO s programs cover the public sector, low income and market transformation sectors. This presentation will provide an overview of DCEO s programs and the incentives available in these sectors. You ll find that applying for controls incentives is easier than ever this year with simple standard applications. 10:45 AM SESSIONS: Gas Programs in Action Jennifer Hesson/Paul Sobiski, Franklin Energy and Jeff Crittenden/Nathan Warren, Resource Solutions Group Representatives from the natural gas utilities will present case studies of successful projects from the past year to generate new ideas for your customers and your business! LEDs and Outdoor Lighting Erin Daughton and John Delany, ComEd This session provides an overview of new lighting measures, new specifications for LEDs and the reasons behind them. You ll also get an update on standards -- what s being phased out and when. You ll learn about the latest lighting incentives for outdoor lighting available through ComEd s Smart Ideas for Your Business program. We ll explain what products work, what innovative solutions get results and other opportunities within the ComEd service territory. Selling to the CFO: Beyond the Two-Year Payback Bill Lewis, DNV KEMA When you re making your pitch to a finance officer, you need to say more than two-year payback to make your sale. In this session, you ll learn the language and landscape of finance what keeps a CFO up at night and what his or her priorities and decision-making processes are. You ll learn how to use more advanced models to depict both short-term and long-term savings, and you ll also learn how a CFO looks at financing options.

ComEd s Electric Incentive Program Update Steve Baab, ComEd ComEd s launching new initiatives, and reframing some existing ones to continue to meet our goals. This session will introduce you to these new initiatives, and give you clear direction on how to stay informed of these and future changes to Smart Ideas for Your Business. Trade Ally Workshops Speaker Bios Steve Baab, a 20-year ComEd veteran, is the manager of the Smart Ideas for Your Business program, which encompasses the commercial and industrial energy-efficiency programs at ComEd. While with ComEd, Baab has also held positions in account management, marketing and customer operations. He has a bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering from Bradley University and a master s degree in business administration from Loyola University. Bill Beattie is an outreach manager for ComEd s Smart Ideas for Your Business program. Beattie s experience includes 20 years in commercial/industrial consultative sales management for Motorola and five years as a principal with a ground source heat pump contracting firm. Ed Carroll is the vice president of Program Design and Development at Franklin Energy. He joined the company in October 2008 as a member of the company s executive team. He currently leads several of the firm s program design and implementation efforts for clients ranging in geography from the upper Midwest to the Rocky Mountain region. Carroll is a 17- year veteran in the energy-efficiency industry with expertise in building science, and energyefficiency program design, planning and administration. His experience spans the design, implementation and administration of programs serving residential, commercial, schools, agricultural and industrial customer groups. Carroll has served in a variety of leadership roles in the energy-efficiency industry, notably as the business program director for Wisconsin s statewide Focus on Energy program. Jeff Crittenden is the custom program manager for Resource Solutions Group, which manages the Business Energy Efficiency Rebate Program, Business Custom Incentive Program and Home Energy Efficiency Rebate Program for Nicor Gas. As a newer member of the Chicago office, Crittenden has quickly ramped up production of custom based projects within the program. Crittenden also serves as technical engineering lead and is responsible for developing and managing engineering staff in Chicago. He assists other programs by creating work papers for Prescriptive measures, technical training, and market specific experience as it relates to emerging technologies. Crittendon brings years of experience in all facets of energy engineering and program management with emphasis on large commercial and industrial verticals. Sean Currie, LEED GA, is a program manager with the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Business including the following programs: New Construction, Retro-Commissioning, Economic Development and Building Performance with ENERGY STAR. Currie is an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received a Bachelor of Science in construction management. Currie has over 20 years of project/development management expertise directing a wide variety of turnkey construction projects totaling over $350 million and is an active member of the GBCI, BCx and ABC construction organizations.

Erin Daughton manages the Prescriptive incentive offerings for the ComEd Smart Ideas for Your Business program. Daughton has worked in the energy and sustainability arena for 10 years, developing and implementing energy-efficiency programs for governmental, public and private organizations. Daughton has a master s degree in urban planning and policy and an MBA from the University of Illinois. She is also a LEED accredited professional. John Delany IESNA is the manager of the Business Instant Lighting Discounts (BILD) Program which works with distribution trade allies to promote the conversion to energy-efficient lamps in the commercial, industrial and contractor markets. He has 18 years experience in the lighting industry in both the lamp and luminaire businesses and has experience working with all lighting technologies including LED. Delany has a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary s University in San Antonio, TX. Atticus Doman is a project associate with Resource Solutions Group, assisting with the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency programs. Doman works with the Business Custom Incentive Program team. He is responsible for the project tracking tool, refining the application process, and serving as the connection between the customer s and the program s engineering teams. Doman s experience includes leading the distributor outreach effort for the Home and Business Energy Efficiency Rebate programs, connecting upstream trade allies with sales tools and program resources. He presents program details to contractors and distributors, as well as strategies for incorporating rebate programs into their business. Doman also provides customers with rebate eligibility assistance. Paige Finnegan is a senior program manager with Franklin Energy Services, managing the Commercial and Industrial portfolio for the Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Natural Gas Savings programs. Having served as a program manager for the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) and as the director of Sustainable Development for the Local Economic and Employment Development Council, she has assisted numerous facilities in achieving greater energy efficiency in a variety of facilities. In addition to her work with Franklin, Finnegan is the ex-officio chair of the USGBC-Illinois Chapter and is co-chair of the Evanston Environment Board. Jennifer Hesson is an energy engineer with Franklin Energy Services, specializing in natural gas energy savings for the commercial and industrial sectors. Prior to joining Franklin Energy, Hesson served as a structural field engineer responsible for providing technical direction and inspections during construction, as well as managing sub-contractors throughout the project. Hesson received her degree in environmental and structural engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tom Johanson, PE, is a senior energy-efficiency engineer for Smart Ideas for Your Business with 26 years of engineering and product management experience. Johanson provides expertise in energy engineering, project development and marketing of HVAC building systems and controls and specializes in energy-efficient design and commissioning of HVAC building control systems to optimize green building performance. He has a bachelor s degree in mechanical

engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and holds a PE in mechanical engineering issued by the State of Illinois. Amaan Laheri is an energy-efficiency engineer with ComEd s Smart Ideas for Your Business program. Laheri is familiar with mechanical systems, lighting systems, cogeneration plants and energy management systems. His experience also includes working with Siemens Industries in their Building Automation Services department. Laheri received a bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Bill Lewis has been involved with energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies for more than seven years. From the financing of energy-efficient mortgages, to residential geothermal heating and cooling, to available incentives for energy-efficient projects, Lewis brings his passion and enthusiasm for energy-efficient technology as outreach team member for the ComEd Smart Ideas for Your Business program. Although responsible for the entire ComEd territory, Lewis splits his time between Chicago and the greater Rockford area. John Mansfield provides project management, including program marketing and outreach support, for energy-efficiency programs as a team member of the environmental consulting firm Resource Solutions Group. Manfield s responsibilities include facilitating presentations, conducting sales calls with contractors, distributors and other supply chain members, project managing Custom Rebate projects, organizing customer venues and coordinating client communications to maximize program participation. Mansfield plays a pivotal role in many energy-efficiency programs, including those for Nicor Gas. Glenn Maxam is the leading HVAC expert for Franklin Energy spearheading outreach for the Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Natural Gas Savings programs. Prior to joining Franklin Energy, Maxam spent 15 years serving as the HVAC director responsible for providing HVAC technical and managerial direction in five states. As an owner-operator of multiple businesses, he attributes his business success to a committed hands-on approach. Darren Meyers, PE, is the president of International Energy Conservation Consultants LLC, which provides technical support to the Illinois Energy Office, Chicago Department of Buildings, and Illinois Energy Code Advisory Council on matters relating to the Illinois Energy Efficient Building Act. The former technical director of energy programs for the International Code Council, Meyers has more than 20 years of experience in building systems research, architectural- and energy-engineering. Meyers holds respectively a bachelor s and a master s degree in mechanical engineering and architectural engineering, and has an MBA in international business from Purdue University. Meyers is a voting member of ASHRAE SSPC 62.1 and a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and North Carolina. He also lectures for the International Code Council on building and energy systems technologies, climate and sustainability topics. Patrick Michalkiewicz is the manager of energy efficiency and major accounts for Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of their energy efficiency programs, as well as the account management and relationship management functions for commercial and industrial customers. Michalkiewicz has more than 30 years of experience in

the gas and electric utility industry, which has included various engineering and management positions in nuclear power, gas supply, sales and marketing, mergers and acquisitions, and customer service. Michalkiewicz serves on the board of directors for the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and is a steering committee member for Energy Impact Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison where he received a bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering. Agnes Mrozowski is the assistant deputy director of the Office of Energy for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). Agnes joined DCEO in November 2009. Prior to that, she spent more than seven years as a vice president for JP Morgan Chase focusing on consumer and business lending, investments and branch operations. Mrozowski has a bachelor s degree in communications from the University of Illinois. Dana Olden is a trade ally liaison with Franklin Energy Services with a particular focus on the joint ComEd, Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Small Business Energy Savings (SBES) Program. Olden joined Franklin Energy with 20 years of experience consulting with businesses regarding energy-efficient applications in lighting remodels and upgrades. During that time, Olden has been successful in contracting, sales, and design specifications for utility incentives and tax credits in commercial and industrial facilities. Olden was recognized by the Energy Trust of Oregon as a trade ally that assisted commercial and industrial businesses to over one million kwh in energy savings in facility and site lighting. Paul Sobiski is an energy engineer with Franklin Energy Services, specializing in natural gas energy savings for the commercial and industrial sectors. Prior to joining Franklin Energy, Sobiski s energy-efficiency career focused on commercial kitchens. Sobiski worked with Architectural Energy Corporation and Fisher-Nickel, Inc. to provide third-party data to endusers, manufacturers, and various parties, including ASHRAE and the California Energy Commission. Sobiski received his bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering technology and his associate s degree in supervision from Purdue University-Calumet. Nathan Warren brings over nine years of project and program management, policy and partnership development, and innovation research experience to his position with Resource Solutions Group (RSG). As a team member of RSG s Midwest Regional Office in Chicago, Warren provides project management, including program design, work flow and quality assurance, for residential and commercial energy-efficiency programs in the Midwest. Currently, Warren serves as project manager for the Nicor Gas Business Energy Efficiency Rebate Program and provides project management functions as a part of ComEd third-party efficiency programs.
