IBM Smarter Cities- vision and solutions 2013 Sibiu, 19.09.2013 Prepared by: Daniel KOSTYAL - SMB Reseller, IBM Romania Andrei NAGY - Enterprise Account Manager, Smarter City expert, IBM Romania. Irina STOLTZ Corporate Citizenship & Corporate Affaires, IBM Romania

Vision and solutions for a Smarter city By smarter, we mean that intelligence is being infused into the systems and processes that make the world work - into things no one would recognize as computers: cars cars, appliances appliances, roadways roadways, power grids, clothes, even natural systems such as agriculture and waterways. A century ago, less than 20 cities around the world had populations in excess of 1 million people. Today, that number has swelled to 450 and will continue to grow for the foreseeable; A the As th cities iti grow in i b both th numbers b and d population, l ti th they are ttaking ki th their i place l on th the world s ld center t stage, with more economic, political and technological power than ever before. Economically, they are becoming the hubs of a globally integrated, services-based society. Politically, they are in the midst of a realignment of power with greater influence, but also greater responsibility. Turning information in knowledge we can reduce costs, cut waste, and improve the efficiency, productivity and quality of everything from companies to cities. IBM launched solutions impacting different key area: smarter education, smarter health, smarter traffic smarter government traffic, government, etc

Launched in 2010, on the IBM Corporate & Citizenship line, the Smarter Cities Challenge is a global IBM grant program designed to enable up to 100 cities around the world to utilize the time and expertise of top-performing IBMers to become more vibrant and rewarding places for their citizens to live in. Grant Details: Team of 5-6 IBM Experts 3 week engagement on a focused topic Direct engagement with Mayor and top city officials Strategic roadmap with actionable recommendations The cities leaders (Municipality) had to be prepared to match IBM's investment with their own commitment t of time and resources. Proposals articulating pressing urban concerns that could be addressed by implementing smarter technologies and processes rose to the top of the list. Cities that demonstrated a solid track record of innovative problem solving were also viewed favourably.

34 cities were selected for 2013 competition Belfast Reno, US Pune, India Tucson, US New Taipei City, Taiwan Burlington, US Date, Japan Porto Alegre, Brazil Stavanger, Norway Fresno, US Valparaiso, Chile Knoxville, US Copenhagen, DK Christchurch, NZ Québec City, Canada Buffalo, US Lagos, Nigeria Jeju, Korea Kyoto, Japan Richmond, US Foshan, China Trujillo, Peru Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia Belfast, UK Cape Town, SA Gurgaon, India Waterloo, Canada Khon Kaen, Thailand Pingtung County, Taiwan Vitória, Brazil Chennai, India Makati City, Philippines Faro, Portugal Gold Coast, Australia Lodz, Poland Copenhagen Faro Lodz 4

Smarter Cities Challenge: ten European projects delivered some examples In Dortmund, Germany IBM helped the city develop an educational roadmap for a 'Dortmund Talent Initiative' to attract new businesses to the region and train workers for jobs in a 21st century economy. In Malaga, Spain, faced with an unemployment rate of over 30% the City and its Mayor requested IBM's support in developing an economic development plan to improve the environment for entrepreneurs and businesses to invest in the city. In Siracusa, Italy IBM helped develop a holistic transportation plan to support the development of multiple industries throughout the city, balancing the needs of its natural resources and refining industry with those of historic and cultural tourism. In Birmingham, UK the City Council has launched the Re-inventing Birmingham initiative -- linking together a range of innovative strategies for city improvement. The Council sought IBM's advice on creating an evidence based analytical tool to support future investment decisions and delivering the highest value for residents. 6

Smarter Cities Challenge: ten European projects delivered Bucharest: The IBM team made recommendations for achieving the city's vision of becoming a vibrant commercial hub for Eastern Europe, including recommendations for economic development, city government operations, infrastructure and quality of life. Eindhoven: The IBM team helped the city to develop a road map for public safety and crime reduction, focusing on intelligent data, accelerated community engagement, enhanced governance and the creation of public-private partnerships. Glasgow: The rising cost of energy has a growing impact on the city s economy, as a larger proportion of family income is needed to heat homes. The IBM team's recommendations focused on improving energy literacy in the city, messaging and branding using social networking tools, and the use of predictive analytics for targeting City resources to support those most in need. 7
