Typical Cutting Patterns The photos on the left show typical pipe cuts such as saddles and laterals. The holes and the pipe ends are cut to match with the W-244 or W-242 depending on the requirement for the third and fourth axis. The photos on the right show structural cuts. Structural Cuts
Selecting Multi-Axis Pipe Cutters: Floating Pipe Clamp The Watts floating pipe clamp moves with the clamped pipe end so the drive system is not stressed as the clamped end orbits around. The head frame also locks into position to eliminate pipe walk. Time Savings It takes about 15 seconds to program a cut and you can link 50 cuts together. After the cut is programmed, it can be saved so the cut only needs to be programmed once. The time it takes to cut the part depends on the wall thickness, which determines travel speed. Tracking Torch Head The Watts pipe-cutter has a mechanical surface tracking system so that the torch tracks the pipe vertically and horizontally. Horizontal tracking keeps the torch in the center of the pipe, not necessarily in the center of the machine. This ensures greater accuracy even if the pipe is bowed. The unique mechanical system eliminates the cost and complexity of adding a 5th or 6th axis to the computer drives.

Machine width Machine weight 22 Inches 3,500 lbs. The Watts W-122 is a 2 axis machine that utilizes plasma. The cutting head is set to the bevel angle manually with an indexing pin that locks at 90 degrees, 30 degrees off 90 degrees, and 37.5 degrees off 90 degrees. Other bevel angles can be set by simply rotating the torch to the required angle and tightening the locking mechanism. The cutting head has the ability to track the pipe both vertically and horizontally with our unique tracking head. This maintains the torch height and tracks bowed pipe side to side to ensure hole alignment and rotational accuracy.
W-242 2-Axis Computer Controlled Pipe Cutter The W-242 is a 24 inch computer operated 2-axis machine that is capable of all the cuts offered by the W-244 with fixed bevel angles. The bevel angle is manually set with an adjustable protractor that is ideal for saddle cuts or holes that do not require a 3rd and 4th axis. With the 2-axis W-242 you still get all of the cuts the 4-axis machine can produce but with a fixed bevel angle. The W-242 allows you to set the torch angle manually rather than controlling the torch angle by computer. If you don t need computer control of the bevel angle, the W-242 is a more economical solution and still fits the need of a high-volume pipe production shop. The W-242 includes the unique floating torch head and floating pipe clamp for cutting irregular pipe successfully. W-362 The W-362 is a 36 inch, max. diameter 10,000 lb. system with all the programming and operational capabilities of the 24 pipe cutter described above.
W-242 2-Axis Computer Controlled Pipe Cutter (Shown with optional power feed and offload arms) W-242 with powered in feed and offload options
W-244 4-Axis Computer Controlled Pipe Cutter The W-244 is a 24 inch computer operated 4 axis machine that is simple to use and highly productive. The 4 axis machine produces variable bevel angles. With the 4 axis machine it is possible to produce fully beveled holes. You can use a plasma or oxy-fuel torch to create complex intersections depending on your requirements.
W-244 4-Axis 24 Inch Computer Controlled Pipe Cutter (Shown with optional power feed, off load arms, and off load conveyor) Watts Specialties W-244 computer controlled pipe cutters offer precise control of plasma or oxy-fuel cutting to create a wide variety of matching cuts for fabricated pipe. This machine can create most required cuts including miters, saddle miters, laterals, Y s, T s, crosses, offsets, K s and even intersections of 5 pipes at one single point. Structural cuts are also offered. The third and fourth computer axis allows control over the torch bevel angle. W-364 4-Axis 36 Inch Computer Controlled Pipe Cutter (Shown with optional power feed, offload arms, and off load conveyor) The W-364 is a 36 inch version of the W-244. You can cut 36 inch pipe with an optimum bevel angle throughout the cut. This is ideal for large pipe requiring pass through pipe connections or hole in fittings. You can also cut hole on fittings with a saddle connection over the hole and a fully controlled bevel. The W-364 is capable of cutting 36 inch pipe up to 10,000 lbs. Optional pipe carriage extensions are available in 20 ft. sections.
Material Handling Options 1. Powered conveyor rollers on cutting bed 2. Hydraulically actuated off loader arms lift the pipe off the cutting cell and transfer it onto a customer supplied pipe rack or an optional Watts Specialties off load conveyor. 3. Off load powered conveyor rollers accept pipe from the cutting cell via the off loader arms and transfers the pipe down to an optional receiving conveyor. A robust framework contains the pipe. 4. In feed conveyor with powered drive rolls on 48 centers
W-484 4-Axis Computer Controlled Pipe Cutter The W-484 pipe cutter can cut pipe from 6 to 48 diameter. Powered in feed, offload, and out feed conveyors allow for fast, safe pipe handling. The pipe is transferred laterally utilizing roller chains. The 3rd and 4th axis of motion allows the torch to rotate along the linear axis of the pipe and perpendicular to the linear axis to perform beveled holes and end cuts. The floating clamp tracks the clamped end of the pipe so there is no stress transferred to the rotational drive system. Up to 50 cuts can be linked together and programmed at the machine using the intuitive Watts parameter programming or the optional offline software.
