Free Project Instructions Helpful Notions: In Stitches Fabric Bins Supplies Needed: Amazing Designs In Stitches Embroidery Designs (ADSTI, ADC-303 or ADC-303D) Sew Simple with Rectangle and Squares Book (BK2801) Hydro-Stick Tear-away Stabilizer (HTA3) Assorted Madeira Rayon Embroidery Threads (See color chart included with the designs) Fabric and interfacing (per medium bin): - ⅔ yd. fabric (azure CTN1009, mint CTN1234, and orchid fabric CTN66) [outer bin and lining] - ⅔ yd. White Peltex Interfacing (PTEXW) Six 1-9/16" silver grommets (PD44363) Spray starch or starch alternative, such as Best Press Starch Alternative (BP60031) Pattern Tracing Paper (PP3) Rotary cutter, mat, and ruler Prewound bobbins (PB24W) Klassé Embroidery Needles, size 75/11 (A6-18075) Erasable fabric marking pen or pencil (FPEFP) Sewer s Fix It Tape (SFT4) Translucent Foundation Paper (TP100) Matching all-purpose thread (91259911, 91258647, 91259320) Helpful Tips: (Read all tips before beginning) Stabilize all fabrics with spray starch or a starch alternative such as Best Press Starch Alternative. Follow the cutting, piecing and embroidery instructions on the following pages. Use Hydro-stick Tear-away Stabilizer rather than hooping the fabric. Simply hoop the stabilizer and adhere the fabric to the sticky area of the stabilizer. Economize by using stabilizer on a roll. Instead of cutting the stabilizer to the size of the hoop, keep the stabilizer on the roll when you hoop. After embroidering the first section, carefully tear away the fabric from the stabilizer. Give the stabilizer a quick press to smooth out the wrinkles from the first hooping. Then rehoop the next section of stabilizer and continue embroidering. Design placement and alignment tip: to ensure proper placement and alignment of designs, we recommend that you print templates for each of the designs used and arrange the embroidery composition on the tissue pattern. Although you can use conventional printer paper to print templates, using Translucent Foundation Paper will allow you to see through the paper, making it easier to align the designs. Be sure to trim away excess paper around the stitch field for easier arranging. Tape templates in place with Sewer's Fix-It Tape. Note: The low tack adhesive of Sewer s Fix-It Tape allows the tape to be removed easily without leaving adhesive residue. All embroidery design components are pictured on the following pages. Each grouping indicates the order in which the various designs making up that grouping should be stitched. In each instance, start with background designs and work toward foreground designs. Design Layout and Modifications The guides on the following pages indicate which designs were used, where those designs were placed on the fabric bins, and how the designs were modified (rotated), as well as design stitching order. Use the thread colors on the color chart included with the designs unless otherwise noted. = Degrees to rotate right = Degrees to rotate left = Special instructions 2017, Nancy s Notions ; 333 Beichl Ave., PO Box 683; Beaver Dam WI 53916-0683

Instructions: Note: Read all instructions before beginning the project. Finished Bin Size: Approximately 6" x 6" x 9" 1. Prepare and cut fabrics: Starch fabrics well using spray starch or starch alternative. Let the fabric dry completely before cutting and sewing. Cut fabric and interfacing: - Fabric (outer bin and lining): Cut two 10½" x 18" rectangles for the front and back outer bin. Cut lining following instructions on p.16 of the Sew Simple Rectangles and Squares book. - Interfacing: Cut interfacing following instructions on p.16 of the Sew Simple with Rectangles and Squares book. 2. Create tissue pattern with templates: Create a tissue pattern for each medium bin, following the instructions on pp. 15-16 of the Sew Simple with Rectangles and Squares book. Label each pattern with Cut 2. Center the template/tissue pattern over the right side of the outer bin fabric. Tape the pattern in place using Sewer s Fix It Tape. Using an erasable fabric marking pen or pencil, mark the center and crosshatch postitions for each design and each outer corner of the template/tissue pattern. Remove the template/tissue pattern and connect the crosshatch marks, marking the center of each design. - Trace the gromment placement by using the template provided with the grommets. Place the grommet template 2" from the top edge and trace the placement line. - Trace grommet #514 placement lines on both sides of the tissue pattern. 4. Transfer embroidery designs to the fabric: Arrange templates on the tissue pattern following the placement guides on the following pages, making sure to keep designs away from the grommet placement areas. Tape the templates in place. Poke holes in the templates to indicate center of each design as well as ends of crosshatch lines for each design. 2" 3. Embroider designs on outer bin fabric: Place the Hydro-stick stabilizer in your hoop. Apply the outer bin fabric, centering the first design, to the activated adhesive surface of the hooped stabilizer. Embroider the designs following the stitch order found of the design placement guides for each bin. Optional: Feel free to embroider one or both sides of the fabric bins. #510 4. Assemble and stitch fabric bins: After the embroidery is completed, remove excess stabilizer and #509 press the embroidered fabric face down on a padded pressing surface or towel. Reposition the template/tissue pattern back on the fabric, matching the embroidered designs with the templates and the outer edge markings. Tape in place. Using a erasable fabric marking pen, trace the outer edge of the pattern shape, remove the pattern, and cut out the fabric bin following the newly traced lines. Remove pen/pencil markings. Assemble the fabric bins following the instructions on pp.16-17 of the Sew Simple with Rectangles and Squares book. Repeat steps for the remaining two fabric bins.
