These fabrics are cleaner, drier and smoother than standard cotton bedding and gowns. DermaTherapy helps control the microclimate moisture, friction and shear between a patient s skin and support surfaces, thereby reducing the potential for skin damage. DermaTherapy does not generate airborne particles and significantly reduces the bioburden on bedding and gowns. Impact Technology incorporates Aegis Microbe Shield, an antimicrobial treatment proven effective against bacteria, fungus, algae and mold. Aegis Microbe Shield is permanently bonded to our fabrics to inhibit the growth of microorganisms for the life of the product. SUPPLY CHAIN PROGRAMS & INNOVATION Energy Generation & Utilization Our manufacturing operations in Augusta, GA are powered by selfgenerated hydroelectric power. The facility received the Energy Champion Plant Award by the U.S. Department of Energy in 2008 for achieving more than 15% total energy savings. Standard Textile also received OEKO-TEX Certification, which tests for harmful substances in manufacturing. Water Consumption & Treatment Our proprietary terry manufacturing process reduces water usage. On average, 70% of water used in our finishing plants is re-used. Input & Byproduct Recycling Waste fiber and fabric is recycled. Yarn cones are returned and reused. Pallets used for shipment of yarn cones are returned and reused. Packaging Minimization & Recycling Over 40% of our shipping corrugate is comprised of recycled fiber. Packaging design minimizes corrugate used. Efficiently engineered pallets are returned and reused for subsequent shipments. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, NEW TECHNOLOGIES & INNOVATION Pre-laundered Products We pre-launder engineered sheeting and terry products, consuming 58% less energy than a typical industrial laundry due to industrial engineering and process efficiencies. Centium Core Technology Centium products are stronger than traditional textiles with terry achieving 50% higher tensile strength and sheeting as much as 237% higher tensile strength. Increased strength; extended service life. Incorporating Recycled Fiber Our Crypton Green line of commercial upholstery fabrics is made from 100% recycled polyester. We also utilize 100% recycled polyester fill in our entire line of healthcare pillows. Customer Processing/Utilization We re also committed to helping customers reduce their energy, chemical and water consumption. Standard Textile s ControlTex provides programs that enhance laundry efficiency and establishes an organized, systematic approach to controlling linen utilization costs.
