The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien A Study Guide Directions For each chapter, you will be responsible answering all questions. Provide proper MLA style citation for each answer. Back up your answers with evidence from the book! Credit will NOT be given for answers that lack citation and a quote. Answers will be in the form of a complete sentence. For example: 2) Bilbo Baggins was a hobbit who lived in a comfortable hobbit-hole in The Shire (Tolkien 1). Baggins is a hobbit, and hobbits are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures (4). Note: There is no comma between the author s last name and the page number in the parenthetical citation. If you have already identified the author in the paragraph, you do not need to repeat the author s name.
