The LCG LED WF 2.4G is a compact and reliable solution when wireless DMX is needed. Designed for the professional lighting director, musician, DJ or anyone who needs the convenience and practicality of wireless DMX. Programming the operating channel is as easy as choosing one of seven colors with the recessed dip switch. The operating channel will auto-store for future use. Operating at a frequency of 2.4G, the internal software will auto-seek the cleanest frequency and lock automatically based on the current operating conditions. The system will operate effectively at a distance of up to 900 ft (300M) ( within 150m is the best ) line of sight. Obstructed use will limit the range to some degree. With the LCG LED WF 2.4G you can use up to seven transmitters each operating on its own channel, with its own subset of receivers. You can use a single transmitter with an unlimited number of receivers. A minimum of one transmitter and one receiver is required for operation. See page 3 and 4 for diagrams of possible operating configurations. If you choose to use this system with a DMX optical splitter, you can control an almost unlimited number of DMX channels within your lighting network (see page 3 and 4 for diagrams). OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE LCG LED WF 2.4G WIRELESS DMX SYSTEM To ensure that the transmitter and receiver sync properly, it is recommended to power up the devices in this order. 1. TRANSMITTER: FIRST, power up the transmitter. Connect the mini-power plug into the power input hole of the LCG LED WF 2.4G transmitter body (see image at bottom of page), then plug the included power adapter into a 120V outlet. When you first supply power to the transmitter, the status LED will glow solid Red (assuming the color channel has not been changed, see chapter Changing color channel group ). 2. SUPPLY DMX SIGNAL: Plug the transmitter (male XLR tip) into the controller s DMX output connector. Now, call up a lighting scene which will send DMX signal to the transmitter. This will initiate the transmitter to seek a clear channel and attempt to sync to the receiver(s). 3. POWER UP RECEIVERS: Now, power up the receiver (with supplied power adapter) and plug the receiver into the DMX input of your lighting fixture(s) or use fixture with the wireless 2.4G receiver. The receiver(s) should auto-sync with the transmitters and start listening for a wireless signal and begin normal operation. You can control a single fixture, or a group of fixtures with one receiver. See diagram on next page for reference. 4. BLINKING LED INDICATORS: When under normal operation, the transmitter will blink Red, and the receivers will blink Green. If either is a solid color, it indicates there is a problem. See troubleshooting page in this manual. The transmitter status LED will blink RED slowly until communication is established with the receiver(s). Once synced up, the LED indicator will blink rapidly. The status LED on the receiver(s) will blink GREEN slowly until communication is established. Once synced up, the LED indicator will blink rapidly. COLOR CHANNEL GROUPS The LCG LED WF 2.4G is capable of operating within 7 different channel groups. However, under normal operating conditions it will not be necessary to change the color channel group. The 7 optional color channel groups are: GROUP 1: RED (default) GROUP 2: GREEN GROUP 3: YELLOW GROUP 4: BLUE GROUP 5: MAGENTA (Purple) GROUP 6: CYAN (Light Blue) GROUP 7: WHITE If you are experiencing problems on the default channel (Red). Follow the directions below to change the color channel group. If you need to operate additional transmitters you will need to change the color channel groups. NOTE: You cannot use more than one transmitter for assinged to the same color group. For example, 2 transmitters cannot operate both on the Red color channel group. Only 1 transmitter, per color channel group, for a total of up to 7 transmitters. For more info on this, see the chapter Multiple Transmitter Options. However, you can use unlimited number of receivers per transmitter. For example, If your transmitter is on the Red channel, you assign 10 (or more) receivers to Red. CHANGING THE COLOR CHANNEL GROUP To change the color channel group, follow these steps: You must unplug your transmitter from the DMX controller and unplug your receiver(s) from the lighting fixtures before you change the color channel groups. Once unplugged, the status indicator will glow a solid color to indicate the current group for which it is assigned. Using a small tool such as a 2mm alan key, press the recessed switch repeatedly to choose 1 of 7 available channel color groups. You must choose the same color channel group for the transmitter and all receivers (used within that group) for operation to occur. For example, if you choose the color channel group Magenta for the transmitter, you must choose Magenta for all receivers that will Listen to that transmitter. Unplug before changing color channel group After you have matched all receivers to your transmitter s channel color group, follow normal operational steps as described on page 3 of this manual to resume operation. SINGLE TRANSMITTER SYSTEM OPTIONS Below are examples of how you can use your wireless system using a single transmitter. Remember that your color channel on the transmitter must match the color on the all receivers. One transmitter can be used with unlimited receivers. Receiver 1 is connected to a single fixture. Receiver 2 is connected to a chain of multiple fixtures. Receiver 3 is connected to an 8-channel DMX Optical Splitter which is capable of sending DMX data to 8 individual chains. Each chain can run up to 16 fixtures. So you can see how receiver 3 is capable of controlling up to 128 fixtures (8 chains x 16 fixtures). MULTIPLE TRANSMITTER OPTIONS The LCG LED WF 2.4G wireless dmx system allows you to use up to 7 transmitters within one show. Consider the drawing below, you may need to use multiple DMX controllers or dual / quad universes within one show (each universe will need one transmitter). When using more than one transmitter, make sure that the corresponding receivers are color matched to its respective transmitter. See the drawings below for reference. In this example, your transmitter and receiver are simply acting as a wireless jumper cable within your existing DMX fixture chain. You can continue the wireless chain by adding more transmitters/receivers but remember to group each pair by unique color groups. TROUBLESHOOTING LED INDICATOR LEGEND: SOLID LED (no blinking) This mode indicates the transmitter/receiver is not detecting DMX signal. Check to make sure your controller is connected and is activating a scene (sending DMX signal). Slow Blinking LED (at intervals of approximately 1 second) This mode indicates the transmitter/receiver(s) are not synced. See remedies below for proper syncing. Fast Blinking LED (at intervals of approximately 1/2 second) Under normal operation, the transmitter will quicky blink red, and the receiver will quickly blink green. This mode indicates the transmitter/receiver(s) are on the same color channel (group) and are properly synced. Your DMX network should be operating correctly under this mode. If your fixtures are not responding under this mode, there may be another problem aside from your wireless system. Refer to the manuals for your controller/fixtures. CHECK THAT THE TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER(S) ARE ALL ON THE SAME COLOR CHANNEL : To do this, you must unplug the devices from the DMX chain (fixtures and controller) to check that the colors match. By default, the devices blink red/green during normal operation when connected. For this reason you must unplug the devices from the DMX chain, and check to see which Color Channel Group each device is on. The device Color Channel Group will glow solid (red, green, yellow, blue, magenta, cyan, white) when unplugged from the DMX chain. Both the receiver and transmitter should be on the same Color Channel Group. See page 3 of this manual to set the color channel. SYNC ISSUE: If the transmitter and receiver(s) have trouble syncing, follow this procedure in this exact order. - Unplug receiver(s) from the DMX fixture(s) - Power off all receiver(s) - Power on the transmitter first - Activate a scene using your DMX controller (this will tell the transmitter to start broadcasting DMX data) Label1 - Power on the receiver(s), this will allow the receivers to listen to the transmitter - Now plug the receivers back into the fixtures The transmitter should blink red, and the receiver should blink green to indicate proper sync. LINE OF SIGHT: If the line of sight for the transmitter/receiver antenna is blocked, the performance may be affected. Try this. Connect a short DMX cable from the controller output to the transmitter. Elevate the height of the transmitter to reduce obstruction of signal (due to audience, equip, etc). Do the same for the receivers if the antenna is blocked from line of site of the transmitter. Transmitter DMX CABLE Elevate the transmitter
