PROJECT TÍTULO Level 1 Step 1 1 Sit in groups of three or four students and read the definition. What is a generalization? A generalization is an idea that applies to a group of people. Usually, generalizations don t reflect reality. Characters in tall tales are based on generalizations of the people that live in a particular region. For example: Pecos Bill is a generalization of Texan people. This generalization shows that all Texans are cowboys. 2 Do an online search and find images and information of the people that live in a particular region of your country. Then answer: What generalizations can you identify about the people that live in that region? Complete the table. Generalizations Are they true or false? Why do these generalizations exist? 1 True / False 2 True / False 3 True / False 4 True / False 5 True / False 3 Choose one of the generalizations from Activity 2. This generalization can help you to create a tall tale that has a setting and a hero from your own country. Now read the definition. What is a hyperbole? A hyperbole is an exaggeration. Tall tales have hyperbolic characters that are part of hyperbolic events. For example: Pecos Bill has hyperbolic characteristics. He can catch a twister with his lasso and tame a wild horse, Widowmaker. 4 Heroes have hyperbolic characteristics. Think of three hyperbolic characteristics for your tall tale character and complete the table. These characteristics are your character s powers. Hyperbolic characteristic 1 Hyperbolic characteristic 2 Hyperbolic characteristic 3
