MILLIONS OF PEOPLE around the globe are paralyzed due to a traumatic spinal cord injury. Car accidents and falls are the main causes. It can happen to anyone at any time. SPINAL CORD INJURY means more than being unable to walk. It is one of the most devastating injuries and can have a large number of health-related complications, including chronic pain and bowel and bladder dysfunction. THE WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN is a truly global running movement that takes place simultaneously all around the world. Participants start at exactly the same time (11am UTC), no matter if it s sunny or raining, day or night. RUNNING FOR THOSE WHO CAN T with the knowledge that 100% of all entry fees and donations goes directly to cutting- edge research projects. The more donations we receive, the more research projects can be funded. IT S A RACE FOR EVERYONE including runners and wheelchair users of all abilities, from beginners to professional athletes; everyone runs side by side for those who can t. A UNIQUE RACE FORMAT featuring the Catcher Car, which is the moving finish line of the Wings for Life World Run. The runners get a head start, and 30 minutes later the Catcher Car begins pursuit.
