Pentecost Aims: to give Primary aged children the opportunity to find out more about Christianity. to introduce the children & their families to the concept of church in school. for the club to be a welcoming & engaging place for all. Timings: 2.45pm team arrive, pray & set up. 3.15 3.20pm sign in & collect passport. 3.20-4.15pm stations open. 4.15 4.30pm whole family story, song & prayers. 4.30-4.45pm whole team feedback & clear up. Theme: Pentecost the birthday of the church! Rationale: Family events work well as the last after school club of the term or half term. The main seasonal festivals are obvious times that will work well as family events. A selection of these sample events are available to download from the Church & School section of the website: http://www.carlislediocese.org.uk/schools-and-young-people/church-and-schools/church-andschools-resources.html Rather than limiting the invites to regular club attendees, open the invite up to the whole school and welcome extended families. The event is designed around a Passport (issued once a booking has been received or collected on the door) this tells the families all the stations available and once the station has been visited each child receives a sticker in the passport. Families are free to move around the stations in any order (stations usually include various crafts, puzzles, refreshments & games) then draw the event together for the last 15 minutes with a familiar song, related bible story & prayers written by the children at the prayer station. A suggested donation of 1 per passport should cover the cost of the event.

Pinwheel template, scissors, stick, split pins, coloured pens. OR Spinner template, scissors, string & coloured pens. Red/orange/yellow balloons, sticks, dove & flames, glue, streamers Letters hidden around room (each numbered). Transfer onto answer sheet to complete sentence. Brown paper bags, pens, glue & flame/dove shapes. Paper, pens, glue, collage bits & worksheets. Juice, water, cake / biscuit, jugs, cups.
