WEEK ONE: JULY 6-10 NATIVE AMERICAN WONDERS Join us as we learn more about our land through the eyes of the Wampanoags, Mohawks, and other Eastern Woodland Tribes. The first half of morning, Julie Phillipps will share Native American stories and art with the students to prepare them for age-appropriate art projects incorporating Native American themes and motifs using paints, collage, drawing, and beading. In the theater portion of this class, Suzanne Sayers will lead students in story-telling activities using theater, movement, and music. The students will hear stories from Eastern Woodland Tribes and will then dramatize the stories. The week concludes with the share for family and friends. Students will break for snack and juice from 10:15-10:30am. PS121 July 6-10 9:00AM - 12:00PM Gallery FUN WITH POP ART In Fun with Pop Art we will learn about famous pop artists and create our own work inspired by this fun and colorful style of art. We will also learn new skills such as color mixing, and various painting techniques. This class for children who take their cartoon characters seriously. Students will learn techniques for creating characters, giving those stories and putting this knowledge to use by working on an actual comic book. Along the way, kids will learn basic art concepts by exploring modern media techniques: under drawing, basic shapes, perspective, design and composition. ES122 July 6-10 9:00AM 12:00PM DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY Kimberly Holliman In this hands-on informative class for beginning to intermediate students, we will explore digital photography from f stops, shutter speeds and file formats to composition and design. We will be shooting outside, weather permitting, with daily assignments with a final critique on Thursday. This class will combine some technical aspects of photography with your creative vision! Have fun and learn how to get the photos you want from your camera. KH121 July 6-10 1:00PM 3:00PM STONE SCULPTURE AND MIXED MEDIA Joan Shapiro With your hands, create a stone sculpture from your imagination or from nature using special tools, and complete the piece polished to perfection! Draw in pencil, charcoal, and oil pastels in interesting compositions. JS122 July 6-10 1:00PM 4:00PM Lower Schoolhouse WEEK TWO: JULY 13-17 PICTURE BOOK PARTY Children learn the stories of the world through picture books, and because modern illustrations are so rich, they can learn a lot about art too! Campers will start their morning with Julie Phillipps, reading a picture book and talking about the technique used to make the illustrations. They will then use techniques such as drawing, watercolor & acrylic painting, and collage to create original artwork of their own. Campers will then take a short break for snack and resume with Suzanne Sayers. Come listen to Picture Books from some of your favorite authors. The children will act out various characters from some of our favorite stories. Your child will be bringing these characters to life by taking them from the page to the stage. MIXED MEDIA In Mixed Media we will work with all kinds of material, from things you can buy in an art store to objects that you can find in your own backyard. We will also learn about other artists who use the same approach, including Romare Bearden and Paul Klee. A wide range of media; such as oils, paints, watercolors, charcoal, pastels, and pencil will be used. We will try to increase that knowledge by studying illustration and animation basics used by professionals. We will put this knowledge to good use while working on anime, comics and graffiti. ES122 July 13-17 1:00PM 4:00PM WEEK THREE: JULY 20-24 ASIAN EXPLORATION

Ni hao! Konnichiwa! Hello! Join each morning as we create beautiful art projects based on stories and art from Asia. Students will use a variety of age appropriate art materials and learn techniques such as sumi-e painting, collage, and origami as they look at Asia art and make lovely masterpieces to decorate your home. In the story and theater portion of this class (10:30-12:00), students will hear folktales from China and Japan. Students will also have an opportunity to play some musical instruments as well as explore storytelling, theater and creative movement. On the last day of class there will be a final "share" where kids will perform for families and friends. Students will break for snack and juice from 10:15-10:30am. PS121 July 20-24 9:00AM - 12:00PM Gallery COLOR DRAWING Students will have fun learning how to draw as they experiment with oil sticks, soft pastels, watercolor and various other media. Students will learn skills to help draw from observation and from their imagination as they investigate the relationship between line form, perspective, texture and color. AA123 July 20-24 9:00AM 12:00PM DRAWING, PRINTMAKING & MIXED MEDIA Students will learn how to use a variety of materials from drawing and printmaking to mixed media in this fun class. Students will learn how to create wonderful work s of art that can be reproduced as well as one of a kind originals. Materials included in tuition. BB122 July 20-24 9:00AM 12:00PM DRAWING Tracy Callamore Students with basic to intermediate skills will improve drawing skills in this 5-day class. Basic drawing skills including contour, value, perspective, shading and composition will be taught. Students will reference master s work and photos to explore landscapes, still-life, and portraiture while working with charcoal, pencil, and pastel. Materials included in tuition. AB122 July 20-24 1:00PM 4:00PM MOSAICS Sarah Segovia

In this class, students will design and create their own glass mosaic projects. They will learn the basics of breaking and cutting glass with special mosaic and glass cutting tools, and go over designing, arranging and adhering the glass as well as grouting and sealing their project. There will be plenty of colorful glass and nuggets provided to create your design. Students will be able to choose from several project bases, including flower pots, vases, and coasters. No experience necessary. SS124 July 20-24 1:00PM 3:00PM Lower Schoolhouse WEEK FOUR: JULY 27-31 AFRICAN ADVENTURES Put your children on an (imaginary) plane, and let them join on a trip to Africa. Students will learn about the beauty of African art and use a variety of age appropriate materials to create beautiful watercolor birds and wax resist spiders. They will also learn how to dip dye papers and create African inspired Zomo rabbit masks. In the story telling and theater portion of this class, students will learn about trickster stories from West Africa. We will learn Anansi the Spider stories and will act them out for our families and friends on the last day of class during our final share. Students will break for snack and juice from 10:15-10:30am. PS121 July 27-31 9:00AM - 12:00PM Gallery ADVENTURES IN PAINTING In Adventures in Painting we will learn about various famous artists, including Claude Monet and Georgia O'Keefe, and create new work inspired by what we see. We will also learn new skills such as color mixing, and various painting techniques. AA123 July 27-31 9:00AM 12:00PM EXPLORE WILDLIFE THROUGH MIXED MEDIA Students will use animals, both real and imaginary, as inspiration to create two-dimensional drawings and paintings, as well as three-dimensional sculptures. PAINTING WITH OIL AND ACRYLIC Tracy Callamore With specific, individual instruction you will learn how to block in a painting in terms of shadow and light, see the most basic masses in the landscape, and understand how to use color and atmosphere. Photos, master paintings and plein air will be discussed as a reference. This class is open to students of all levels. AB123 July 27-31 1:00PM 4:00PM STAINED GLASS Sarah Segovia Students will learn the basic techniques of the copper foil method of stained glass craft. I will explain to them how to use the tools properly with ease and comfort, and the entire process of creating and designing a stained glass panel from start to finish. This workshop will allow students to appreciate all the work that is involved in making stained glass artwork, while having fun creating art! The focus of this course is to give students who are interested in learning the techniques of stained glass artwork the opportunity to do so in a relaxed, creative atmosphere.
