All entries must have been completed within the last year, appear new, and be clean. Soiled, smelly, or wet items will be disqualified. No kit projects allowed. All skeins of yarn should be a minimum 1 oz. or 100 yards approximately and the yarn needs to be tied in 3 places. No ribbon will be awarded without documentation. NEW to enter - Fiber & Fleece Documentation Forms are required for all entries and must be completed to enter your items. Please fill out either the Fiber Documentation Form AND/OR Fleece Documentation Form found on our website http://www.alaskastatefair.org/site/exhibits/ (1) Personal entrant number (do not write name on form) (2) Description of preparation, including techniques and tools used (3) Dyeing process, if applicable, including type of dye (4) Sample of original fiber, swatch or yarn, and list content, fiber (5) Specify Alaskan fiber, if used Judging is on design, color, workmanship, finished appearance, difficulty of execution, and originality. All divisions are open to all ages. If you are entering as a Junior, place the appropriate letter on the entry form under sub-category. FLEECES Enter a maximum of four fleeces per class. Fleeces must be no more than twelve months growth, as commonly measured by the wool trade. All wether fleeces in wether classes only. Enter each fleece in a clear plastic bag; one per bag. Do not include skirtings. Tag fleece with exhibitor name, breed and sex of fleece, division, and class number. Definitions: Fine: Fine combing 64 s to 80 s Medium Fine: Half-blood combing 60 s to 62 s Medium: Blood combing 56 to 58 s & blood combing 50 to 54 s Long: Low blood combing 46 s to 48 s; Common 40 s to 44 s; Braid, 36 s or coarser.
