Function 1 New Slide Template The first thing you are going to want to do when you are using Microsoft PowerPoint is to create a New Slide. The New Slide button is in the upper left hand corner of PowerPoint and you ll want to click on the little arrow icon to the right of it. 2
Once you click the arrow key, you can pick from a variety of different slide templates. The most common one that I pick is Title and Content shown above but you can pick any new slide template that you would like! 3
Function 2 Inserting Action Buttons Inserting an action button is one of the best ways to make your PowerPoint more interactive. Action buttons allow for the person using the PowerPoint go to different slides based on the button they pushed. This is essential in our Jeopardy game as there are many different options for the user to choose. There are 12 different action buttons to choose from. 4
Once you click the Action Button that you want, you size it up however you want. You can place it wherever you want on the screen and fill out any instructions the button needs to have. This one for example is a Home Button screen and would allow the person using the PowerPoint to go to the Home screen anytime they click it. 5
Function 3 Inserting Clip Art To insert Clip Art, you click the picture icon shown above and then you have one of two options. You can pick a picture from your own computer by clicking Picture browser or Picture from file. If you want actual Clip Art, you would click Clip Art Browser or Clip Art Gallery. 6
In this example, I picked a clip art bunny. Another cool feature that Microsoft PowerPoint has is the ability to create frames around your picture. There are multiple options for this and if you want even more then is shown, just click the arrow and around 15 more options will appear. This is a fun way to have your PowerPoint Pop more. 7
Function 4 Inserting Sound You can even add audio to your presentation. To do so, you click Media in the upper right hand corner and you have the option to insert audio that has already been recorded that is on your computer or you can create your own by selecting Record Audio. This is what I used when I narrated my own audio for the Jeopardy game. As long as you have a microphone for your computer, you can use this option. 8
After you record audio, this is what the audio box looks like. You can click the play button to hear what was said. You also have the option to format your audio. This allows for different settings such as starting the audio when someone clicks on the icon or starting automatically when the screen comes up. You can change any of these settings on the upper left hand corner. 9
Function 5 Saving as a PowerPoint Show The last function I wanted to show you was how to save your assignment as a PowerPoint Show. A PowerPoint Show is very similar to a PowerPoint but instead of coming up with all of the ways to edit your PowerPoint, the PowerPoint show is the actual presentation. This is what you would want to send to someone if you were sending your final copy of your work. 10
Once you click the Save as button, you can name your file and then click the format button. There are many different formatting options but the one you want to pick is called PowerPoint Show which is a.pptx format. Once you have done this, you are all good to go! 11
