Press Information Linsengericht-Altenhasslau, November 2015 A proper understanding and efficient application of weathering from practice for practice In 2015/2016, Atlas also offers new technical workshops and courses concerning weathering in addition to its line of comprehensive workshops with focus on fundamental topics. Atlas Material Testing Technology offers laboratory, purchasing, quality, development and sales staff the opportunity to take further training in material testing and to improve their skills in the handling of test equipment. In addition to the new industry-specific seminars, basic weathering workshops are available once again in 2015 and 2016, being held in, France, Great Britain as well as the United States and other countries. Workshops with exercises using the weathering test instruments of the Xenotest, SUNTEST and Weather-Ometer series are utilized in the training centers in Linsengericht () and Mount Prospect (United States). The Atlas experts will demonstrate concrete application cases under near practical conditions and support companies from many different branches such as the textile, plastic, automotive and coating industry with efficient integration of their weathering test methods and processes into existing operations. All those concerned with the production and durability of materials and surfaces must tackle the issue of weather resistance and its testing using weathering. Atlas Material Testing Technology, worldwide leading manufacturer of weathering test instruments, thus offers technical workshops with focus on specific industry segments, basic workshops, and product workshops with its experts in, France, the USA and other countries. The two inter-related seminars " & II" are offered for material engineers, product managers, chemists, research, development and laboratory staff as well as specification, sales and purchasing staff who want to familiarize themselves intensively with the topic of weathering. In the first seminar, the participants are given an extensive introduction to weathering influences, test methods and important standards by an experienced lecturer which they can intensify in the second part. In the workshops dealing with the Atlas product series Xenotest, SUNTEST and Weather- Ometer, trainers demonstrate the efficient handling and correct maintenance of weathering test instruments under near practical Atlas_Press-Information_Client-Education 1
conditions. The training courses are aimed at employees who are responsible for operation, maintenance and calibration of weathering test instruments as well as at laboratory technicians and quality officers. In addition, Atlas has now also designed new workshops with focus on specific industry segments. Optimal testing processes thanks to Atlas technical workshops To convey to users from different industries, such as automotive or textile manufacturers, the optimal use of the Atlas weathering devices in a hands-on and practical manner, Atlas offers one-day, industryspecific workshops with focus on specific instruments. A thematic focus is on test methods and analyses. Participants will learn about the most important international testing standards of the respective industry segment and how to interpret the resulting test results correctly and properly. During the workshops, Atlas weathering experts also explain the proper use of filter combinations for each application with Atlas test instruments. To obtain precise measurement results and to make their tests reliable and reproducibly, the proper handling with the influencing factors of moisture, temperature and radiation intensity and uniformity will be discussed. On request, Atlas conducts technical workshops as in-house events directly at the customer site. & II The seminar "" is an introduction to the world of weathering. In the one-day course, experts first present the influential factors of radiation, heat and water as well as their synergetic effects on products and materials in different climate zones. Other key topics are laboratory weathering test technology, test methods and applications. Finally, the natural and accelerated outdoor weathering as well as the most important standards are explained, for example DIN, ISO, SAE, AATCC, or ASTM. The one-day course "" deals with the content of the first seminar in greater detail. The participants deal concretely with the influences of weathering on polymer materials and their simulation in the laboratory with weathering test instruments. They also learn how to plan weathering methods efficiently and to implement them correctly using reference materials. Examples from the dye, textile, automobile and plastic industry are used for demonstration. Atlas usually holds the workshops on two successive days at different sites in, USA, France, Great Britain and Switzerland, there also in English and French, as well with local partners in additional countries. Workshops for the application of weathering test instruments Atlas Material Testing Technology, as a leading manufacturers of weathering test instruments and technology, offers practical training courses for their product series Weather-Ometer (Ci3000, Ci4000, Ci5000), Xenotest (Beta+, Alpha+, 440, 220/220+) and SUNTEST (CPS+, XLS+). With the detailed theoretical introduction and the illustrative examples from daily routine in the detailed practical part of the workshop, the participants receive profound knowledge and skill in the handling of the test instrument in a short time so that they are able to efficiently implement test processes back in their own companies. They learn about the factors of influence that can affect the reliability of their Atlas_Press-Information_Client-Education 2
instruments and the reproducibility of their test results. The participants also gain applicable knowledge about inspection cycles, troubleshooting, installation conditions, instrument components and calibration methods, all summarized in detailed training literature. In the extensive hands-on training they consolidate this knowledge in training scenarios in small groups under the supervision of experienced Atlas trainers. The next German workshops are being held in April 2016 at the Training Center in Linsengericht-Altenhasslau. Atlas holds training courses in English in Mount Prospect, USA.
