NOTE: Special Award will earn 20 points. Each 2nd prize winner - 15 points. NOTE: If there are 2 equal firsts, each will receive 17.5 points, there being no 2nd. Each 3rd prize winner - 10 points. NOTE: If there are 3 equal firsts, each will receive 15 points, there being no 2nd or 3rd. Each 4th prize winner - 5 points. This principle of equally dividing available points will apply to all tied places. Competitors' second-highest scoring entries in any section will not be considered in calculating this trophy. Alex Amess Trophy This is the Champion Victorian Showcase Trophy, and is awarded to the winner of Section 99 Ralph N Smith Memorial Award This Trophy is awarded to The Best Presented Trade Stand
GENERAL CONDITIONS 1. All sections except Section 99 will be judged according to the rules and conditions of the Competitor & Judging Manual for Lapidary & Allied Competitions, issue no. 8 dated April 2015, unless otherwise stated in this Schedule. All competitors are encouraged to read the Manual for each of the Sections that they are entering. 2. This is a LEVEL 3 Competition. 3. Only their BEST Entry will be eligible for the award. 5. The Competition Committee may transfer an entry to its correct Section if they are of the opinion that it has obviously been entered in the wrong Section. 6. ENTRY FORMS for ALL Sections MUST be received at P.O. Box 500, Mooroopna, Victoria 3629 by Friday 26 th January, 2018, together with an Entry Fee of $5.00 and a stamped, self addressed envelope for return of your receipt and sufficient funds to cover the cost of return of entries by Registered or Express Post. Entries on late Entry Forms will not be eligible for competition; they will be for Display Only. 7. ACTUAL ENTRIES a. Entries in Sections 1, 2, 3, 8 to11, 12, 18, 21, 25 & 26 MUST be mailed to Competition Co-ordinator, P.O. Box 500, Mooroopna, Victoria 3629, to arrive no later than Friday 26 th January 2018. Late entries will not be eligible for competition; they will be for Display Only. NOTE: All mail entries should be sent by Registered or Express Post. b. Entries in Sections 5, 7, 14, 16, 32, 34 & 99 MUST be delivered to the Competition Committee at the Gem Show Hall between 6.00pm and 8.00pm on Friday 9 th March 2018. Entries not set up by 8:00pm will not be eligible for competition; they will be for Display Only. 8. RETURN OF ENTRIES: c. Entries in Sections 1, 2, 3, 8 to 11, 12, 18, 21, 25 & 26 may be collected from the Gem Show Hall approx 2 hours after closing time on Sunday 11 th March 2018. Entries not collected as above will be returned by Express Post by 16 th March 2018. d. Entries in Sections 5, 7, 14, 16, 32, 34 & 99 MUST be picked up from the Gem Show Hall immediately after closing time on Sunday 11 th March 2018. 9. JUDGING SHEETS may be collected from the Gem Show Hall between 4.00pm and 5.00pm Saturday 10 th March 2018. If not collected they will be returned with entries and any awards. SPECIAL CONDITIONS A. A set of suitable Cutting Instructions can be downloaded from the VGCA website or can be supplied to the Entrant upon request. B. To be eligible, approximate dimensions MUST be included on the entry form. C. To be eligible, the showcase MUST: Have a title displayed on or in it. Contain a majority of items that are of a nature suitable for this type of competition. Eligible cases will be numbered with the winner being decided by a public ballot held during the show. The Winner will be announced at approximately 3 pm Sunday 11 th March at the Show. D. Junior Entries - To be eligible Juniors must be under the age of 16 on the 28 th February 2018. Entrants MUST write their Date of Birth on the Entry Form. Juniors are encouraged to enter all divisions Open, Intermediate, Novice and Junior. Junior entries into Open, Intermediate or Novice Divisions of sufficient quality may be awarded Special Awards. E. Specimens may be any Type : Invertebrate or Vertebrate or Plant (including Algae)
