Skills Lab #9 CTD Master Checklist Discovery Session In this skills lab you will work with another student to walk through the 7 steps of the CTD Master Checklist to set you up for inevitable success. Keep in mind while you are setting this up that it is not set in stone, but rather a place to start creating the foundation of your coaching practice. Once you start working with clients and deepening your coaching skills you will be able to fine tune your niche from there. MATERIALS NEEDED CTD Master Checklist Any pieces of the checklist that you have already brainstormed or completed INSTRUCTIONS In groups of 2 walk your partner through the CTD master checklist and coach them around any pieces that they are having challenges with. It is helpful to listen to the bonus CTD skills lab with Carey and Leo prior to this lab, but not necessary to participate in this lab. COACH: Hi there! Congratulations for being here, showing up, and honoring your commitment to this journey of becoming a Health Coach! Today we are going to explore the CTD materials and how it can be applied to your specific coaching practice so that you can start to invite potential clients into this conversation with you. How does that sound? COACH: Wonderful! To start I would love to hear what s one aha you ve had so far from listening to the CTD lab with Carey and Leo? (If your partner has not listened to the audio yet, check in with their favorite AHA of pillar 2) COACH: Thank you for sharing that. So here s how we re going to get the most value out of our time together. The goal of this lab is to help you invite a prospective client (either paying or practice) into a CTD conversation with you. I m going to walk you through The Closing The Deal Master Checklist to help you share the materials you have prepared, to help celebrate your achievements, and to help you uncover where in the CTD you might feel stuck or confused. That way after this lab you will be be ready to find and invite clients to your Closing the Deal Conversation with EASE. Sound good? STEP #1 COACH: Great! Go ahead and pull out the CTD Master checklist if you haven t already and we ll start with step #1, choose a results based title and benefit rich bullets. Have you chosen a BHC done-for-you title or did you create your own? pg 1
COACH S NOTE if NO: If the client answers NO or if the client is struggling to make a choice on the title, ask Where are you currently feeling resistance or difficulty in choosing a title? If they are really hitting a block and not able to come up with anything ask, Would you like to move forward or handle this now? If YES: If the client answers YES, say Congratulations! Well done. Can you tell me a little about what that means to you? COACH: Great! Thank you for sharing that really well done. STEP #2 COACH: Now let s move on to Step #2, which is super similar to step #1, to choose a matching title for your program. Once you choose a CTD title, like we just did, it is sometimes as simple as adding a colon (:) 90 Day Intensive or 90 Day program. Which program title would you like to use to compliment your CTD title? COACH S NOTE if YES: If the client answers YES, say Wonderful! Well done. That was easy. You re doing great! If NO: If the client answered NO in either of the two steps above, begin this simple observational, curious, and supportive sequence: COACH: I am curious, in the past, what stopped you from making a decision about these steps? COACH: Great. repeat what client shared (Uncertainty, fear, anxiety, perfectionism, procrastination?) we can acknowledge these with gratitude and just observe them with curiosity. Is there a place in your body where they show up for you? COACH: So sometimes (name emotion) shows up (name place of the body). And, even with these feelings, we can still act with intention when it is time to act now. Now let s see here. I m curious, if you breathe into these emotions and thank them for keeping you safe, there is also a part of you (even if it feels super small right now) that is ready and excited to start interacting with potential clients. What decision would that part like to make? COACH: Great! (Repeat what client shared) Excellent! pg 2
We can acknowledge this success, these inspiring feelings, and observe them. We now know that we can act with conviction when it is time to act now, right? How does this feel for you? STEP #3 COACH: You re doing great! Let s move on to Step #3. Have you block scheduled a time on your calendar for your practice CTD Conversations? COACH S NOTE if NO: If the client answers no, ask Is there anything stopping you from making a decision? If the client is struggling to make a choice on the scheduling options, ask, What needs to be true for you to choose your dates and times? COACH: Thank you. And what needs to be true for you to make sure these times are held sacred? COACH: Great noticing! Are you willing to test drive that option for now knowing that if these times do not work they are not set in stone, but can help get you started? COACH: Great! STEP #4 COACH: Excellent. Now let s move on to Step #4, which is to edit the personal email copy. Have you done that already? COACH if YES: Congratulations! Would you like to share that with me and honor your accomplishment right now? COACH if NO: There are two copy options. Which one would you like to walk through together now so you can make it your own? All you have to do is make a few changes by adding a few of your own details. We can keep it simple. COACH S NOTE: Important! Spend 5 minutes on editing the personal email copy to get your client started. THEN ask. When would you like to complete this? CLIENT: responds COACH: How can I support you? How about if you email it to me by (date and time client said)? CLIENT: responds COACH: Wonderful. I d love to be your accountability partner for this. pg 3
STEP #5 COACH: You are doing such great work here. We are really moving along and creating great momentum here. Now we move on to Step #5, which is to edit the Prepping For Your Session email. Have you done that already? COACH if YES: High five! Way to go. You are rocking this! COACH if NO: ask What steps do you need to take to complete this? I d like to invite you now to set a completion date so you can continue this forward movement. When would you like to finish this? Would you like to email it to me by (date and time client said). Wonderful. I d love to be your accountability partner for this also! That s one of the great parts of being a coach is getting to be a great accountability partner for others! THEN ask How would you feel knowing this last step is complete? I am sure you realize that when you complete this Prepping for Your Session Email your 7 Steps Checklist will be complete. Take a moment to imagine how you will feel knowing you have all the pieces in place. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine finishing this last piece of the puzzle. Click save. You are ready to move forward and invite your supportive clients to this amazing transformational session with you! You have all the pieces of the puzzle in place. It s time to take the step. How do you feel? ** If [client feels] nervous, fearful, or anxious say Wonderful! This is perfectly normal. The sensation of fear, nervousness, anxiety are all ways our mind protects us and care for us. We want to say thank you. That little voice deserves recognition. Place your hand on the place where you feel that feeling of fear or hesitation and give it warmth. Gently say, Thank you for looking out for me. Thank you for caring. Thank you for loving me. We are safe. (Pause) (coach: shift to uplifting energy) Good. Yes! Well done! And now you can go ahead and raise your hands in the air. Shake that all out Take a deep breath, knowing you are powerful. Knowing you are impacting people s lives. Knowing you are helping your clients embrace life and enjoy life with vitality, health, and happiness. So _(client s name) when will you complete this last piece? How can I support you? Would you like to send me the email on (date). ** If [client feels] good, peaceful, complete, proud at having the pieces of the puzzle in place and complete, then say: Wonderful! Let s take a moment to really savor this! (Invite client to close her eyes, place her hand on her heart.) Well done. You have completed all the materials. All the pieces are in place. You are pg 4
ready. You did it. (pause, breathe deeply) All the pieces are in place. I can move forward now feeling (repeat good feelings client has). I am ready to share my transformational sessions with my clients. I am doing this... Yes. It s my time to shine. Breathe in and even turn the dial up just a little bit more to really feel the full reach of these sensations. Congratulations. Really great work, (client s name). Go ahead and open your eyes and come back fully into this present moment with me. CONCLUSION COACH: As time allows, complete the session with these items: 1 action step ideally to invite someone into CTD to be completed in the next 24 hours In the next 24 hours, I will invite to a Closing the Deal Conversation.
