OverDrive on the Kindle Fire (For the Kindle Fire Only) Downloading the App Go to the Kindle Fire s Apps tab and click on store (located at the right of the screen). Click the magnifying glass in the upper right and type OverDrive in the search box and search. Tap on the Magnifying Glass. Select the APPS tab. Type OverDrive here Once you are in the Apps Tab, click Store. The first result with OverDrive in white with a blue background is the app you need. Click on it. Then press the orange download button on the right. The app will now download. Finally, tap the orange open button on the right. Click to open. Tap Download. Tap the open button to open the app.

Creating an Account for the App Once you open the app, it will ask you to sign up for an account. The next page will ask you how you want to signup; select sign up using library card. Next, you will be asked to find your library. Select the location option and type in Winona s Zip Code (55987) then press go. Next, select the Winona Public Library. Type in Zip Code. Press go. Select Sign up Using Choose location. Tap Sign Up. Select Winona Public Library. Type in your library card number. When done, press sign in. Next, you will need to add a library to your account. (This will be the next screen.) Do this by clicking add a title. Type in Winona Zip Code one more time, 55987, and click search. Type in Library Card Number. Type Zip Code Here. Tap the + sign above Add a Title. Click search. Click Sign In.

Select the Wiinona Public Library on the next screen. Tap the star to the left of Southeastern Libraries Cooperating. This will add the library catalog as your favorite. Then tap on Southeastern Libraries Cooperating. You will be taken to the library catalog. Click Southeastern Libraries Cooperating to open the catalog. Tap on Winona Public Library. Tap the star to save Southeastern Libraries Cooperating as your favorite. Catalog appears. Logging on to the Catalog Before you navigate/search for an item, you must first sign using your library card. To do this, tap on the three books icon in the upper right-hand corner. A screen will appear asking for your library card number. Type in your library card number. Check Remember my card number on this device and the press Sign In. Click here to sign in to the catalog. Type you library card Check this box to remember your card number. Click here to sign in to the

Browsing the Catalog You can browse both ebooks and audiobooks by clicking the three lines in the upper right-hand corner next to the books icon. Once you click the three lines, select the Subjects Option. Then select your format, either ebooks or audiobooks. After you pick a format, tap the subject you would like to read. The collection of books in that subject will appear. You may, also, want to narrow the collection down to just available items. To do so, click on Filters and click Available Now under the Show Category. Tap on these three lines to browse the catalog. Pick Subjects from the dropdown list. Select a Format: ebook or Audiobooks Select a Subject The collection will appear. Tap filters to open various options. Select available now to see all available items.

Searching for Books You can search for books by using the search box at the top of the page. You can type in an author, title, or search term. A list of titles, authors, and search terms will populated as you type. You can either select from the list or keep typing. If you select from the populated list, the results will automatically appear. If you choose to type out the search, tap the search button on the right of the screen then the results will appear. You can also narrow down you results to available items and just audiobooks/ebooks. To do so, see the previous page. Type your search here. Your Search will populate as you type. Hit Search after you type in your search. Searching: Tips & Tricks How to Tell If a Book is ebook or Audiobook: Under the book cover and title, you will see a pair of headphones for an audiobook and an open book for ebook. How to Tell If a Book is Available / Checked Out: If an item is available to check out, it will say Borrow below the book. If the item is unavailable, it will say place a hold below the book. To Find out More About a Book: Tap the cover of a book to find out more information about it. Audiobook Tap here to find out more about a book. ebook Available to Checkout. Not available. Need to place a hold.

Placing a Title on Hold & Checking it Out Placing a Title on Hold When an item is not available, there is a holds list for it. To put yourself on hold, press place a hold at the bottom of the book cover. You will then be prompted to enter your email twice. Press Place a Hold when done. (You will no longer have to enter your email address after this.) A success page will appear when done along with read-a-likes that are available. Success Enter email address twice. Press Place a Tap Place a Hold. Checking Out a Book Once you find an Available item to check out, click borrow (located below the book cover). This will automatically check out the book. (A confirmation will appear at the top of the page with a due date.) Next, you will need to download the book. To do so, click icon that looks like three books leaning at the top of the screen. Confirmation that item was checked out. BUT WAIT THERE S MORE! Tap the three leaning books. Tap Borrow.

After you click the three leaning books, you will be brought to a page with all your checked out titles. To download the book, you will need to click the Download button to the right of the book you checked out. Your title will then load to your bookshelf. Title will download. Tap Download to download book. Reading or Listen to a Book After a title has loaded on to your device, you can read it. To read the book, you will need to go to your bookshelf. You can get to the bookshelf by click the three lines in the upper left-hand corner and then selecting Bookshelf. On the next page, click on the book to read it. Tap these three lines. Tap Book to read it. Select Bookshelf.

Returning an Item An item automatically returns after 21 days; however, you may return a book early. All you need to do is go to your Bookshelf and press and hold down on the book you want to return. A popup will appear asking if you want to Return to Library. Tap on Return to Library. Another popup will ask if you are sure that you want to return the item. Click Yes. The item will return. Press & Hold Book. Select Return to Library. Tap Return to confirm the return. Navigating Tip When you open the app, your screen should default to your bookshelf. From the bookshelf, you can access the catalog or read the book. If your screen does not default to the bookshelf, you can navigate to the bookshelf of the catalog by using the three lines in the upper left-hand corner. This is the menu the 3 Lines gives you. These 3 Lines Appear on most pages & can get you to where you need to go. Tap here to go to the catalog. Tap here to go to the book you are reading. Tap here to read/listen to book. Tap here to go to the catalog.
