INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR STAINLESS STEEL MODELS Installation of lock body unit Slide the lock body into pre mortised door. Hold in place with the 2 lockbody screws. Installation of the levers and roses Using the provided template, drill the appropriate holes in the face of the door. Tighten spindle and then back off ½ to 1 full turn to ensure it rotates freely. Install spindle with the embossed nipples facing the locked side of the door. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the portion of the spindle, when viewed from the end, has the hole closest to where the set screw will enter (both sides) as the tip of the set screw must pierce this thin layer of metal for proper installation. (See illustrated template on reverse side.) FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN SET SCREW NOT PIERCING METAL AND EVENTUALLY DESTROYING THE SHOULDER OF THE LEVER AT THE ROSEPLATE. Insert the spindle through the hub with the embossed nipples on the spindle on the locked side of the door, or centre the spindle in the case of a solid spindle. Unscrew rose covers from levers. Place the inside lever and rose plate on the door in the proper location. Ensure the spindle is properly centred and tighten the set screw for the inside door as that will prevent the spindle from moving. Fit the outside lever and rose and install the sex bolts until they are snug to the face of the door. Ensure that the levers rotate freely.tighten the sex bolts EVENLY while the levers are in place and check rotation again tighten the outside lever set screw until it pierces the spindle. Check rotation. Install the rose covers. If levers are sticking go back through the installation steps again.the most likely causes are not setting up the spindle properly or trying to install levers when the holes on the face of the door are not properly drilled, leaving the levers out of alignment. Installation of the cylinder Ensure the cam supplied is on the cylinder and looks like the cam pictured here. Screw cylinder along with cylinder spring and collar into the lockbody. After cylinder is screwed into lockbody until it is flush with the collar, make sure that the Phillips screw is lined up with the notch on the cylinder and that the keyway is vertical on the bottom of the cylinder. Tighten cylinder yoke to prevent unscrewing of the cylinder. Turn key in cylinder to make certain that the locking or latching mechanism functions properly. Install faceplate on mortise. Checklist Do both handles work smoothly and independently? (Split spindle only). No binding is evident. Check the function of the mortise if applicable before closing the door. (Does the rocker lock the correct side of the door? If so, make sure that it locks only one handle.) Does the latch move freely? Is the latch aligned with the strike plate? Insert the spindle through the hub with the embossed nipples on the spindle on the locked side of the door. Place spring loaded sub-roses on the door in the proper location. If you have to force them to line up with the holes you have drilled then you are out of alignment and the levers may bind, causing excessive wear or failure.you should be able to put the sub-roses onto the spindle and into the holes without forcing. Cut sex bolts to desired length. Use the sex bolts to tighten the spring loaded mechanisms together. REMEMBER TO TIGHTEN BOTH SETS EVENLY! OR ELSE BINDING OF THE LOCK WILL RESULT. Slide the handles on the spindle and screw on the rose covers. If you have to force, check your alignment or you have cross threaded the rose. Install the handle set screw with allen key provided. Make sure it is properly tightened.you should actually feel it pierce the spindle when it is tightened. Check to insure that both sides work independently and smoothly. If they do not then verify your alignment. Installation of the cylinder Ensure the CAM supplied is installed on the cylinder. Screw cylinder along with cylinder spring and collar into the lockbody. After cylinder is screwed into lockbody until it is flush with the collar, make sure that the fillister head screw is lined up with the notch on the cylinder and the keyway is vertically on the bottom. MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS For normal duty doors we recommend that the levers be removed, (note whether the set screws are in place and tight) and the sex bolts checked for tightness and alignment every 10-12 months.while the levers are off of the door the installer may also check for signs of wear on the stem plate. If the stem plate shows signs of grooving or excessive wear, remove the sub-roses to ensure that the spindle threads have not been damaged or stretched. Replace any parts that are showing excessive or abnormal wear patterns. (Abnormal wear patterns on the stem plate or spindle tend to suggest that the levers are out of alignment and that the holes on the door face should be checked, along with the mortise bevel position inside the door, or ensure that the set screws were tightened, and modified to ensure proper alignment.) Upon re-assembly ensure that all screws are properly tightened as described in the Edge Hardware Inc. installation instructions and that all set screws are in place and firmly tightened. Much of the damage described above can be attributed to not installing the set screws and having all the pressure of the lever set placed on the stem plate of the pull side lever. For heavy usage doors we recommend that service take place every 6-8 months. DC-006 CONCEALED DOOR CLOSER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Prepare the door and frame according to templates included or downloaded from www.edgehardware.com in the Downloads section. 2. Close all valves on the closer (both left hand and right hand). Adjust only the valves showing after the closer is installed in door or frame. If this is not done you will not be able to properly adjust the closer. 3. Install closer body into door or frame as required. 4. Install the arm onto the axle of closer. Ensure that it is properly fastened. 4. Install the slider and hold open in the track, and install into frame or door. 5. Open door to required opening (max. 120 degrees), then pull the attached arm to the opening point and install the arm onto the slider in the track with supplied screw. 6. Adjust position of hold open (if supplied) with supplied Allen key. 7. Begin adjusting closer using the adjustment valves. Open them slightly to begin and adjust accordingly. One screw will adjust closing speed, the other screw will adjust latching speed. CAUTION: 1. Closer must be installed according to templates in order to function properly. 2. The closer arm must be properly secured to ensure proper function of the closer. If the arm is not properly secured, the closer adjustment will never be stable. 3. Never back the adjustment screws out higher than the body of the closer. Doing this will cause damage to the closer and is not covered under warranty. 4. A proper floor or door stop must be used so that the door does not exceed 120 degrees of opening. Failure to do this will void the warranty. TECHNICAL: 1. Maximum door width 950mm 2.
