1What is Water Resistant Matte Polypropylene? A new poster paper from Design Supply for long-lasting outdoor display up to about 6 months without lamination. Design Supply s own poster paper for outdoor use No Lamination Outdoor Display Long-lasting up to 6 months Water Resistant Matte Polypropylene is synthetic-based poster paper that surpasses conventional aqueous inkjet paper 1) in weather (water, photodegradation, and gas) resistance when used with Design Supply s own genuine pigment-based inks, making it ideal for prints intended for outdoor display. Conventional aqueous inkjet paper requires lamination for use in outdoor displays, but Water Resistant Matte Polypropylene is an enhanced aqueous inkjet paper that allows long-lasting outdoor display for up to about 6 months 2) without the additional hassle of lamination. Offering a solution for those who had given up on in-house production of outdoor posters up until now, this paper allows easy creation of outdoor posters and displays with just a large-format inkjet printer and pigment-based ink. 2 Superior Media Solution Expanded opportunities for promotional use High-quality outdoor print display for improved customer draw Lamination processing eliminated for reduced labor and cost Water resistance for expanded display locations
3 Layered Structure and Technical Features Water-durable base material and ink-receiving layer Ink-receiving layer resistant against water and UV rays and ink-receiving layer The ink-receiving layer consists of a binder with low water solubility.the vastly improved water resistance of the inkreceiving layer is achieved through this binder. In addition, the ink-receiving layer provides protection against the ultraviolet rays in sunlight, protecting the pigment-based ink that has penetrated the layer and the base material below from photodegradation. Ink-receiving layer Highly water & photodegradation resistant color layer Synthetic paper Water-durable synthetic base Base material The base material consists mainly of synthetic resin. It is lightweight, flexible, and durable against moisture and rain which makes it ideal for posters intended for outdoor display. * Graphical representation

5 Outdoor Weather Resistance for Up to 6 Months Evaluation method Evaluation method As an enhanced aqueous inkjet printing media, this product can be used without lamination for up to about 6 months outdoors. The above longevity may not be produced depending on the actual climate, conditions, and methods of display. The display duration is based on accelerated testing and simulations conducted by Design Supply Ltd and is not guaranteed. Call our experts 0800 018 23 23 they re here to help Criteria for 6-month outdoor weather resistance evaluation Accelerated testing and actual outdoor display testing (September to February of following year in Tokyo area) was conducted in accordance with ISO 18930 (Methods for evaluating image stability under outdoor conditions) standards, and data collected from both tests was correlated and verified. Specifically, JEITA CP- 3901A (Digital Color Photo Print Stability Evaluation) standards as defined by JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) were used as reference criteria for longevity. In addition, friction testing was conducted in accordance with ISO 18947 standards, and the limit was determined as the point at which adhesion between the base material and ink-receiving layer dropped below the specified level. 6 Additional Information Print surface strength Call our experts 0800 018 23 23 they re here to help Pigment-based ink is printed on the surface of the Water Resistant Matte Polypropylene. Gentle wiping to remove dust, for example, will have minimal impact on image quality (see below). However, directly rubbing the print surface with force or wiping with a cloth (dry or wet) may affect the image quality depending on the extent. If you anticipate the need for additional surface strength on prints, we recommend lamination. However, in normal outdoor poster display situations, the combined weather (water, photodegradation, and gas) resistance of the pigment-based ink and the paper s ink-receiving layer should last up to about 6 months as described in 5. Outdoor Weather Resistance for Up to 6 Months Surface strength testing Accelerated testing for surface strength was conducted on print samples (outdoors for about 3 to 4 months). Specifically, 500-g weights were placed on white pieces of cloth over the print surfaces, and transfer of ink to the white pieces of cloth was observed upon their removal. As seen in the above photo (right), transfer of ink is not noticeable. Photo of outdoor weather resistance testing
