Adding Print/Copy Credit Before printing/copying you will need to add credit to your account. You can add credit by; Going online @ http://uclan.pcounterwebpay.com (minimum 3) Swiping your UCLan corporate card at a Printer Credit Machine. Visiting the (Information Service Point) found in the library. They accept cash, credit & debit card. Print Credit Machines (cash only) are located in the following locations; Ground Floor - Library 3rd Floor - Library Foster Learning Zone - Foster Building Print costs 2016/17 (Printing double sided will save you 30%) Black & White Single Sided A4-5p / Double Sided A4-8.5p (Cost for both sides) Single Sided A3-10p / Double Sided A3-17p (Cost for both sides) Colour Single Sided A4-20p / Double Sided A4-34p (Cost for both sides) Single Sided A3-40p / Double Sided A3-68p (Cost for both sides) Checking Printer Credit Balance Log in to Windows PC then select: Start All apps Print balance 2
Installing a Printer Note - As of September 2016 the library printer names have changed. Windows PC Login to a UCLan networked PC 1 Select Start All apps Connect to Network Printers. 2 Select the Student Folder. 3 Choose the building you require. 4 Carefully select the printer you require from the list; Take note of the Location bar which identifies the floor and printer number. Within the path name B&W means black and white machine and Col means a colour machine. If you are unsure each printer will have its path name marked on the actual machine. 5 You should now be connected to a printer. Apple Macintosh Login to the Mac 1 Select the Apple button, select System Preferences, select Print & Scan. 2 Select the plus (+) icon. 3 Enter the building code into the search box e.g Lib for Library (Other building codes can be found here: https://www.uclan. ac.uk/accommodation/assets/campus_accommodation_ map.pdf). 4 Select the printer you want to use. Within the path name B&W means black and white machine and Col means a colour machine. If you are unsure each printer will have its path name marked on the actual machine. 5 In the Use section choose Select Printer Software, select the printer model either HP 9050, Konica C280 or Konica C452, select OK then select Add. 6 Close Print & Scan window. You should now be connected to a printer. 3

How to Print 1 Log in to UCLan networked PC/Mac. 2 Open file and select Print. 3 Find required printer from printer list. 4 Select OK/ Print to send your document to the Print Release Station. Please note: on a Mac you will need to enter your UCLan Password. 5 Go to the Print Release Station located near the printer(s). 6 Select your UCLan Username from the list and enter your UCLan Password. 7 Select the file(s) that you want to print then select the Print button. 8 Your documents should now print with a cover sheet identifying your job. Photocopying To photocopy you will first have to register your student card on the Print Credit Machines by inserting your username and password (See page 2). You only have to do this once to activate the photocopier service. Photocopiers can be found in the following locations; Ground Floor - Library 1st Floor - Library 2nd Floor - Library To Begin Swipe your student card on the vendor unit at the side of the photocopier. This unit will display your name and current print balance. You should now have access to the photocopier touch screen functions. If the vendor unit displays the error Invalid User you will have to register your student card on the Print Credit Machine. 5
Basic Photocopier functions; 1 Color (Found on the touchscreen) This allows you to choose either black and white or colour printing. Select Black or Full Colour as per your requirement as you will be charged accordingly. Note The machines are by default set to Auto Colour. Auto Colour automatically scans your document to ascertain if its black or white or colour. 2 Duplex/Combine (Found on the touchscreen) Select this option to printing either single or double sided. You can select either 1-1 sided, 1-2 sided, 2-1 sided or 2-2 sided. Consider your document original and required output and choose the appropriate function. 3 Zoom (Found on the touchscreen) This option controls any enlargement/reduction options you may require. Select your chosen requirement from the enlargement ratios. 4 Corner Staple (Found on the touchscreen) Select this if you want a staple in the corner of your document. 5 Number Keypad (Found below the touchscreen) Type in your required amount of copies. 6 Start (Found below the touchscreen) This will start your photocopying. Your Document You can either place your document face up in the feeding tray or place your document directly onto the glass plate of the photocopier. Be aware if your document is in poor condition it could jam in the document feeder. If it is in poor condition we recommend using the glass plate to photocopy. 6
Large Format Printing You can now print your own large format posters on the Colorwave printer located in the Library Building adjacent to UCLan Print. You will find Large Format Printing Guides next to the printer. Colour print costs for this machine are as follows; A0-4.20 A1-2.10 A2-1.05 Scanning Dedicated flatbed scanners (A4 & A3) are available on the third floor connected to the Windows PC s and Macintosh computers. Instructions are provided on the scanners. Further Information You will not be charged for any printing if you do not release it from a Print Release Station. If not released your job will be automatically deleted after 6 hours. Be patient large documents with many pictures make take some time to process. If you have any problems with the Student Printers use one of the Service Telephones. Alternatively contact UCLan Support. 7
