Multi-Wavelength Meter AQ6141 Perfect for Wavelength Analysis in DWDM Systems

Multi-Wavelength Meter AQ6141 Perfect for Wavelength Analysis in Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) transmission enables multichannel transmission with wider bandwidth for higher capacity optical communication. This has lead to an increasing demand for measurement equipment featuring high wavelength accuracy. The AQ6141 Multi-Wavelength Meter, with its excellent wavelength accuracy and resolvable separation measurement, answers this demand, making it ideal for a whole range of applications from DWDM system development to manufacturing. And the AQ6141 also features a new measurement function to determine narrow bandpass filter center wavelength to high accuracy. Features High wavelength accuracy: ±0.3 pm (at 1550 nm) Realizes highly precise measurement utilizing a wavelength-stabilized He- Ne laser as the reference light source for higher resolution analysis. Narrow bandpass filter center wavelength can be measured with high accuracy. High resolvable separation Can separate, recognize and measure two wavelength signals as close as 5 GHz (minimum, 1550 nm: 40 pm). Measurement capacity of up to 512 channels Able to measure each wavelength by analyzing multiplied signals (up to 512 channels). LD evaluation at 980 nm band Capable of measurement in the 900 to 1680 nm wavelength range by switching measurement modes, while standard wavelength measurement ranges from 1270 to 1680 nm. 6.5-inch color display Can check waveform data and peak wavelength at the one time by displaying waveforms and measurement data simultaneously. Complete functions for monitoring WDM light source Complete functions for stability analysis of light source such as variable rate 3D display, long term function, trap function, etc. Complete memory functions Can record measurement results and measurement conditions on floppy disk and in the internal memory. 2

Multi-Wavelength Meter AQ6141 Applications Characteristic evaluation of light source for WDM Measures both wavelength and power up to 512 channels, and displays waveform and measurement results simultaneously. Capable of checking correlation with ITU-T advice and close monitoring of grid. Can also display a list of peak wavelength and power. Terminal station (Transmission side) multiplexer Filter center wavelength measurement function This is a new function. Can measure pass center wavelength of passive devices such as narrow bandpass filters, etc. ASE Light Source AQ4315A Multi-Wavelength Meter AQ6141 AWG Center wavelength of gauss distribution-type filters Center wavelength of flat-top type filters 4

Long-term function Displays changes in peak wavelength and power for one channel. The waveforms below, display not only current measurement results but also maximum rate, minimum rate, or the relationships between the two. Wavelength change Power change Grid check function Analyzes peak wavelength of set grid. Searches peak wavelength or analyzes wavelength gap and changes of power within the grid. Wavelength correlates with ITU-T grid. Wavelength doesn t correlate with ITU-T grid. ITU-T grid wavelength 5

Multi-Wavelength Meter AQ6141 Applications Standard screen The waveform and the peaks are display simultaneously on this standard screen. It is used to monitor WDM system temperature characteristics and evaluate laser oscillators. List screen This mode displays a list of the peak wavelengths, up to 14 at a time. 3D display screen Displays 3D waveforms and peak lists at a time. It helps to check the change of measurement result by time. Marker screen The marker function simplifies tasks such as analysis of wavelength and power level difference. 6
