MAINTENANCE Pump Crankcase Lubrication: Change initial fill after 50 hour run-in period. Change Simpson Pump Oil every 3 months or at 500 hour intervals (other approved oils should be changed every month or 200 hours). Check oil level sight gauge at the back of the pump. If oil level is correct, it should be at the center of the circle. If low, fill to correct level with proper oil. DO NOT OVERFILL! PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE Give model and serial number when ordering parts or requesting information. Read all instructions and familiarize yourself with the unit before operating. Lubricate pump as outlined in instructions, and change pump oil at required intervals with recommended grade of oil. Keep incoming water filter clean. Use only nozzles of size furnished with machine. Proper size is stamped on specification plate. Drain water from pressure hoses, gun and extension and accessories after use. Protect Pump From Freezing. Failure to remove water from the pump in freezing temperatures will result in damaged pump manifold. A winterizing siphon ki t (Part No. WK 590-10) is available for this purpose. Using this ki t, a 50-50 mixture of ethylene glycol type anti-freeze and water is siphoned into the pump to replace the plain water. DO NOT tamper with Unloader Valve adjustment or alter engine speed. Use ONLY injector of the size and type designed for your model. DO NOT connect siphon hose to pump inlet for the purpose of siphoning cleaning chemicals through pump. The machine is designed for direct loop up to water supply. DO NOT exceed 140 F temperature on incoming water supply. Gasoline and diesel engines: Keep air filter clean and engine in tune. Check oil level in engine each time gas tank is filled. Change oil in the engine at required intervals, and use only recommended grade engine oil. ALWAYS close fuel valve when transporting or storing unit. Before storing unit for long periods of time, drain fuel tank and carburetor of all fuel. As an alternative, use a commercially available gasoline preservative additive when storing machine for shorter periods (up to 6 months). ELECTRIC MODELS: CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE ELECTRICAL CORD. DAMAGED CORDS SHOULD BE REPLACED. DO NOT REMOVE THE GROUND FAULT INTERRUPTER (GFI) FROM THE ELECTRICAL CORD.

REMOVING AND REPLACING A.P.R. SPRING (UV 725, 745 & 760 Unloader Valves) The A.P.R. spring on Simpson UV 725, UV 745 and 760 unloader valves should be replaced once a year or every 500 operating hours. Extra A.P.R. springs are included in the package of o-rings in the Owner s Manual. To Replace A.P.R. Spring: Remove the top bypass cap (Item No. 1) on the UV 725 or UV 745 unloader valve. On the UV 760 series, remove the top bypass plug (Item No. 1). Then, with thin needle nose pliers, remove bypass valve ball (Item No. 2), the A.P.R. sleeve (Item No. 3) and the A.P.R. spring (Item No. 4). Replace A.P.R. spring with new spring. Then replace the ball and cap (UV 725 & UV 745), or the top bypass plug (UV 760). IMPORTANT: IF A.P.R. SPRING IS BROKEN, LOCATE ALL BROKEN PIECES AND REMOVE! ANY BROKEN PIECES NOT FOUND COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNLOADER VALVE OR PUMP! EFFECTIVE DATE: 9/26/94

Older unloader valves with the UV 921-56 Screw do not have this seal. This repair kit contains an extra 1/2" seal washer, Ref. No. 2, UV 921-04 which should be used instead. Old style mounting screws (UV 921-42 - 3/8" Screw, and UV 921-56 - 1/2" Screw) can be replaced by new style brass mounting screws (UV 921-42B - 3/8" Screw, and UV 921-56B - 1/2" Screw) if necessary.
