FOX-TP-M-101 Page-1 1. SCOP This describes the field inspection of FOX pin and box thread. 2. PIN THRAD INSPCTION Tools and gauges required for field inspection may vary dependent on particular situations, but for most running and pulling operations the following equipment is sufficient: Depth Gauge (Pit gauge) Fine Tooth Triangle File (Small) Scotch Brite mery Cloth The pin thread inspection criteria and action is shown in Fig. 1. Inspection is conducted visually and by touch of hands, and any required repairs to the connection should be conducted in accordance with the requirements of Fig.1. Slight burrs or damage to threads can be removed with emery cloth and moderate damage can be repaired with file and followed with emery cloth. There are two types of pin end, swaged and un-swaged end. The difference between those two are shown in Fig. 2. Downloaded From JFTC.COM 3. Hand repair with a fine triangle file or emery cloth. Repair should be made in a larger area than actual effected area and should move around the diameter of thread. Otherwise reject Phosphate coat if not present Reject or re-plate.
