PROGRAMMABLE ANALOG SIGNAL CONVERTER THREE WAY GALVANIC ISOLATOR - 19 input scales - 7 output scales - 1 SPDT alarm contact - input/output isolation 3kV - auxiliary supply output for loop powered sensors - auxiliary supply output for potentiometer function Note The module converts unipolar and bipolar input signals On input section two auxiliary dc output (5V,15V) are available for feeding potentiometers (5V) or remote loop powered sensors (15V), no additional power supply is required, though reducing costs. Connection example: OUTPUT STAGE The output section of the module is suitable for unipolar and bipolar signals (see TAB.2) : LIMITER function is programmable for limiting the output signal to the minimum or maximum scale value in case of input overload or broken wire/sensor. In this case the red LED on front pannel turns on, the relay and its SPDT contact are switched on. The contact output connections are the terminal blocks 5, 6 and 7, and can be used as process alarm. The dimension of 108mm includes the pluggable connection terminal blocks, supplied with the module. * NOTE: the modules are factory calibrated for 4-20mA / 4-20mA. Other possible set-up calibrations are available upon customer request.

CA-PI/PO FUNCTION DESCRIPTIONS LIMITER : with input signal lower or higher than standard levels, or input broken wire, limits the output signal at min. or max. scale levels according to the set-up and makes the relay to turn on ; the module is supplied with LIMITER disabled (dip 1, 8 ON, dip 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 OFF on SW4) ; LIMITER cam be activated by setting SW4, see TAB1, according to unipolar / bipolar input and output scale ZERO ADJ : the trimmer adjusts ±10% the lower signal level SPAN : the trimmer adjusts ±10% the higher signal level Note : turning one trimmer, influence the set point of the other, so few regulations of the two trimmers are necessary to achive the best accuracy. BROKEN WIRE DETECTION : the function works only with voltage or 4-20mA input signal ; set-up JM1 in position A (Neg), B (Pos) or C (None), see TAB.4, and set up the LIMITER acc. to input signal JM1 in position A (Neg) : output signal reaches the full scale negative value 10.05V, 5.05V with bipolar signals ; or 0.1V, 0.05mA, 2mA (with 4-20mA) with unipolar signals ; the contact is switched and the red led is on JM1 in position B (Pos) : output signal reaches the positive full scale value 10.1V, 20.05mA either with unipolar or bipolar signals ; the contact is switched and the red led is on JM1 in position C (None) : the function is off ; output signal is like with 0V input signal ; the function works in any case with 4-20mA input signal if LIMITER is setted- up Note : with current input signal, the function broken wire detection is possible only with 4-20mA signal ; the output signal works as in the case of JM1 in position A, but the jumper have to be setted in position C. LIMITER red led : indicates LIMITER is activated by an input overload, signal lower than minimum, or broken wire, if the function is activated or input set-up is 4 20mA ; with current output set-up, it displays also broken wire on the output ; the red led is on, the contact is always switched POWER green led : power ok TERMINAL BLOCK 1 : positive signal input TERMINAL BLOCK 2 : negative signal input TERMINAL BLOCK 3 : 5Vdc/5mA aux. supply output TERMINAL BLOCK 4 : 15Vdc/30mA aux. supply output TERMINAL BLOCK 5 : relay contact 14 output TERMINAL BLOCK 6 : relay contact 11 output TERMINAL BLOCK 7 : relay contact 12 output
TERMINAL BLOCK 8 : negative signal output TERMINAL BLOCK 9 : positive signal output TERMINAL BLOCK + : positive power supply input TERMINAL BLOCK - : negative power supply input CA-PI/PO MODULE SET-UP The module is programmable by setting the dip-switches on one side of the module, by adjusting the trimmers ZERO ADJ, SPAN, SW3 switch and JM1 jumper bridge accessible by opening the front pannel. ANALOG CONVERTER / ISOLATOR FAST SET-UP PROCEDURE 1-set up input scale by setting SW1, see TAB.1 2-set up output mode voltage/current by setting SW3 on U / I position, see TAB.4 3-set up output scale by setting SW2, see TAB.2 4-if required set up the LIMITER by setting SW4, see TAB.1, and JM1, see TAB.4 5-if required, set up the function broken wire detection by setting JM1, see TAB.4 This procedure mayght introduce an error up to 2% with unipolar/unipolar conversion, up to 4% with unipolar/bipolar conversion and vice/versa, depending on the type of signal and on the scale difference compared with the factory scale set-up (4-20 / 4-20). ANALOG CONVERTER / ISOLATOR PRECISION SET-UP PROCEDURE To get an error 0.1%, connect the power supply and feed the module for a few minutes warm-up time. The needed instruments are : 15 36Vdc stabilized power supply, analog signal generator or a process calibrator, 4½ digit display U/I meter. For the calibration it is raccomanded to use a process calibrator. The accuracy of the calibration depends on the precision of the instuments Procedure A-disable LIMITER function by setting ON dips 1, 8 and OFF dips 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,7 on SW4 B-set-up input scale by setting SW1, see TAB.1 C-set-up output mode voltage/current by setting SW3 on U / I position, see TAB.4 D-set-up output scale by setting SW2, see TAB.2 F-connect the meter to the output terminal blocks 9 (+), 8 (-) G-connect the power supply to terminal blocks + and - and turn on power H-connect the signal generator to the input terminal blocks ; set-up the signal generator at lower level unipolar signal output, (or at the max. negative level wit bipolar signal), adjust ZERO ADJ trimmer to read 0 on the output meter display (or the max. negative level with bipolar signal) ; (set up the signal generator under the min. scale signal to chek the LIMITER function is operating ok if it is activated).
