This sewing course will enable you to use your sewing machine with confidence. Bring your own sewing machine along and learn the following: Threading the machine How to change the bobbin thread Replacing a needle different types of needles and what they are for Differences in threads embroidery thread, cotton thread etc Tensions how to adjust and learn what tensions are needed for different types of fabrics Stitch lengths and styles Sewing machine feet what they can do and how to change them Button holes Things to bring to the class: notepad and pen to make notes All other materials will be provided. The course will show you the techniques used when making a curtain using pencil pleat heading tape, giving you the confidence to make your own curtains when you get home. The course will give you the confidence to make your own triple pleat curtains when you get home. In this two hour session you will learn the following: How to use buckram Hand sewing stitches required You will need to know how to use a sewing machine. This course is for complete beginners. You will make a simple envelope cushion to take home with you at the end of the course. You will have the opportunity to decorate and embellish your cushion to make it unique. Learn to make an interlined curtain In this course you will learn how to make an interlined curtain by creating a small sample of a curtain. Interlining is added to a curtain to help prevent drafts. It makes the curtain a lot heavier in weight and it can also be used to give a thin fabric such as silk a luxurious look. The course will show you the techniques used when making a curtain using pencil pleat heading tape and attaching the interlining between your main fabric and your lining. You will need to know how to use a sewing machine. For this course you will need to provide the following materials:- Sewing machine in full working order with its instruction manual and all of its. A basic sewing kit to include dressmaking scissors, unpicker, bright coloured polycotton thread,. Notepad and pen to make notes 1 metre of curtain fabric 1 metre of synthetic interlining 1 ½ metre of 3 inch pencil pleat heading tape Duration: 2 ½ hours Date: Wednesday 29th January 2014 Time: Cost: How to make a piped cushion with a zip Cushions come in many different colours, shapes and sizes and are a great decorative addition to a room. This course is the follow on course from How to make a simple envelope cushion. In this course you will look at different styles of cushions in more detail e.g. piped, frilled, different shapes. By the end of the course you will have a cushion that you can take home with you. How to make a Roman blind Roman blinds are an effective, stylish way to dress a window. On this course you will learn the techniques required to make a Roman blind. On the course you will learn how to make a sample of a simple Roman blind using Roman blind tape, and the traditional way of making a Roman blinds, by making pockets for the dowels from the lining fabric. For this course you will need to know how to use a sewing machine. Please bring with you the following:- Sewing machine in full working order with its instruction manual and all of it's. Basic sewing kit to include dressmaking scissors, unpicker, bright coloured polycotton thread, pins, spare sewing machine needles, hand sewing needles, tailors chalk and a tape measure.
