It sprung on March 20 th and was heralded by the hum of air conditioners all over the Valley of the Sun. I am amazed at how my tolerance for chilly temperatures has disappeared how about you? We are off to a running start this month, with National Quilt Day, Quilting at the Lake and Route to the River, followed by the Board Elections at this April s meeting. I want to thank you all for allowing me to occupy the position of President for this last year and to thank all of you for the tremendous help and support you all gave me... I was NOT president by myself!! Without you all I would have been lost! I am looking forward to this new fiscal year and the challenges and opportunities it will bring, I hope you are too! CLASS INFORMATION/UPDATES EDGE TO EDGE QUILTING CLASS The class was a huge success. Good feedback from those that took this class. We are hoping to bring Cassandra back again for those that wanted to a end but were unable. I didn t get pictures of the first class so I apologize for that. 5

Community Outreach Our goal: To share our love of sewing and help people in our community. Linda Higuera Here are the dates for Community Outreach sewing sessions for the first half of 2018. All sessions are from 9 am to 1 pm. Copper Canyon Fabrics Unlimited January 17th February 13th 21st March 13th 21st April 3rd 18th May 1st 16th June 5th 19th Please feel free to bring a friend. You don't have to be a member of Havasu S tchers to a end these sessions. Any ques ons, please give me a call. AQG SPRING MEETING April 14 Route To The River If If Those registered to a end the April 14th mee ng are invited to the Meet & Greet on Friday April 13th 6 PM to 8 PM at Mar ni Bay Come and visit with AQG members before heading out to dinner. AQG will provide a selec on of Hor d oeuvres and NO HOST bar. AQG Spring Mee ng April 14 Place London Bridge Resort Time 9 am 3 pm Cost $33 Includes Con nental Breakfast, Box lunch, and Speaker Jackie Kunkel From Canton Village Quilt Works you re planning on attending the Arizona Quilters Guild Spring Meeting Route to the River on April 14, 2018 we need your help. Join in on the fun...havasu Stitchers along with Kingman Guild are hosts for the event and we can t do it without your help. We re looking for volunteers to help greet attendees (Greeters); room set up (Friday evening) & tear down (Saturday afternoon); raffle ticket sales; hand out lunch boxes; etc. We re also looking for quilts to be displayed during the meeting. If you won a ribbon during the 2017 Quilt Show, we d like to share your talent with other quilters in Arizona who attend the meeting. If you have quilts with a western theme, i.e., desert mountains, river, cactus, cowboy; hot rod - Route 66 theme and/or red and white (2018 is AQG Ruby Anniversary...red & white) we d like to show off your skills. Please note - some quilts may be draped over display racks or hung with clips therefore sleeves are not mandatory. If you d like to help by displaying your work at the event, please drop your quilt(s) off to Sherri Ashford, Copper Canyon Quilting, 375 El Camino Way, Lake Havasu City, no later thanapril 10, 2018. Be sure to identify your quilt with your name & phone number on the back. Quilts will need to be picked up after the meeting at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center, 1477 Queens Bay, Lake Havasu City, on Saturday, April 14, 2018 between 3pm & 4pm. First Vice President-Educa on Susan Sacco reported that the following classes were s ll available: Beginners Machine Applique presented by Ann Creek on March 12. Spider Web Table Runner presented by Helga Brown on March 15. Edge to Edge Quil ng presented by Cassandra MacLane on March 30 or March 31. Admission is one canned food item to be donated to Interagency. Remaining Bou que items from the 2017 Quilt Show will be available for purchase. In addi on, a garage sale will be held. Items are not limited to quil ng. Volunteers are needed to assist with the garage sale and bou que and those interested in volunteering should see Susan Black. 2019 Quilt Show Kevin Cabbage then announced that the first Quilt Show Planning Commi ee mee ng will be held on March 15, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Copper Canyon Quil ng. All members are invited to a end. Mary Beth Peters distributed raffle prizes won by Havasu S tchers from the Crazy Horse Quilters. Second VP-Membership Mindy Hoium reported that there are 12 guests present this evening. Winners of the 50/50 prizes were Beverly Columbus and Barb Math. Mary Lou Van Dreel was presented with a bag of gold fat quarters in celebra on of her 50 th wedding anniversary. Fat quarters were also collected for Linda Ira, who was not feeling well. Judy Pedersen will deliver her collec on. Dianne Lomax introduced Gloria Hunt who spoke about the Child Help program, a na onal group that sews quilts for foster children and personalizes them with the child s name. If interested, members could par- cipate by sewing quilts. Judy Pedersen then demonstrated hot dog pillows, which are used for the Heart to Heart foster kids program.
