OWNER'S MANUAL 'OGERS DRUMS SWV--MATC MANUAL NO. 61131 ( 1/GB) FOOT PEDAL

The Roger's Swiv-o-Matic Foot Pedals THE ROGERS SWV--MATC FOOT PEDALS (NO. 48-612, NO. 48-613, NO. 48-614 AND NO. 48-615) ARE THE MOST VERSATLE N THE WORLD. To find this out for yourself, please read carefully the information that follows. l;ach exclusive feature is explained in detail so that no matter how unique your technique is, your Rogers Swiv--Matic pedal will give you maximum speed, ease of playing, ease of set up, consistent performance, and the kind of comfort that allows you to play your best with confidence.

ASSEMBLY 1. You'll find your Swiv-o-Matic Foot Pedal packaged in its carton in two separate units: ( 1) the footboard and upper assembly unit and (2) the pedal standard, hoop clamp unit. 2. To assemble, back out the two set screws in the upright of the pedal standard with your drum key and insert the upper assembly, vertical tube, in the pedal standard's vertical receptacle. Let the upper unit fall to the bottom of the receptacle then pu out about % inch. Tighten the two set screws with drum key making sure beater is centered and horizontal tube is parallel with leading edge of pedal standard unit. hoop clamp on bass drum cou nterhoop (in space where cardboard was), centering the hoop clamp between the two claw hooks bottom center, batter side of bass drum. Tighten set screws firmly with drum key. NOTE : This hoop clamp should remain on the bass drum at all times. t will ( 1) protect your counterhoop from damage, (2) assure consistent pedal position from job to job, and ( 3) cut set up time significantly. THS S AN EXCLUSVE ROGERS FEATURE. 3. nsert connecting rod in Swivo unit by raising the heel of the footboard up and toward the beater. Bring the heel down and connecting rod will be hooked in place. 4. Turn large locking (thumb) screw counterclockwise and remove hoop clamp from pedal standard unit. Note position of clamps on cardboard spacer. Loosen set screws on hoop clamp. Remove cardboard spacer. Fasten 5. Grasp the pedal in right hand where the leather strap fastens to the beater cam. Lift the batter side of the bass drum up from the floor slightly with left hand and slide the pedal standard under the hoop clamp. Let the drum down so the hoop clamp drops into its place on the standard. The base of the standard is designed to fit the hoop clamp configuration. Jiggle the bass drum or the pedal to test for in position status. Now tighten locking screw (clockwise turns) until pedal is firmly fastened to hoop clamp. The pedal is now in its basic position and ready to be adjusted to fit your individual needs. 6. Now that the pedal is in its basic position, you should set the spurs on your bass drum so the drum is stable and will not roll side to side. (t is best to keep the front of the drum

ASSEMBLY (Cont'd) as near to the floor as possible, yet not touching lugs to floor_ The base of the pedal should be flat on the floor for stability_ Too much height in front will hinder pedal action.) 7. Now set the spurs on your Swiv-o-Matic foot pedal. With the pedal spur properly set your bass drum will not move while you are playing. This is a Rogers exclusive first. Your Swiv-o-Matic pedal spurs are designed to be adjustable with a drum key from zero () penetration to one-quarter inch (Y..") penetration into the floor surface. This is to allow for effectiveness on floor materials from thick carpet to hard, smooth types. For normal wood floors such as stages and band stands, the spurs should be extended 1/8". For extra hard surfaces 1/16" will usually be enough. For soft wood or thick carpeting, you can extend the pedal spurs up the fully..". To test for proper setting, move rocker arm slightly back and forth to see if standard base pivots on spur points. Check to be sure base is flat on the floor and does not pivot on spur points. Retract spurs if base pivots, or, apply pressure to the pedal to get full spur penetration. have six more adjustment points to help you get just the right position and feel you want. f you have the #48-613 of #48-615 Swivo-Matic foot pedal with adjustable footboard, you have eight more adjustment points to get that perfect fee. (See adjustable footboard only.) Hoop Clamp Set Screw With the Rogers Swiv-o-Matic Pedal Spurs properly set, the harder you play the less likely the bass drum is to move. 8. f you have the #48-612 or # 48-614 Hinged Heel Swiv-o-Matic foot pedal, you 2 Connecting Rod (Thumb) Screw

ADJUSTMENTS BEATER POSTON ADJUSTMENT A. You can vary the radius of the beater stroke by setting the beater rod long or short. Maximum radius is 7 inches from set screw to top of felt beater ball. Minimum radius is 5- 'Y.." from center of set screw to top of felt beater ball. Maximum radius (length) is maximum power relative to leverage forces. SPRNG TENSON ADJUSTMENT C. The adjustment at "C" allows you to vary spring tension from minimum to maximum from playing position without effecting any other adjustment or function. Note: Maximum spring tension does not result in maximum speed. Minimum spring tension is more likely to contribute to speed technique and endurance. STROKE ADJUSTMENT D. You can adjust the length of stroke from to 9 (i.e. the distance the beater ball travels from horizontal to vertical without changing the strike point on the drum head). Original factory setting is between 4Q-5 degrees for maximum control at all dynamic levels. For maximum control at low dynamics 7-8 de- grees is nominal. High dynamics can result from a longer stroke. Foot technique will determine the longest practical stroke which does not interfere with foot or leg/foot movement. PEDAL HEGHT ADJUSTMENT E. You can adjust your foot pedal to strike just the right place on the head of any size bass drum from 18" to 28" by setting your height at adjustment point "E". Or, you can adjust your footboard angle and height to your liking. Or in concert with the beater radius (A) and the strap length adjustment (B) you can get just the right feel, distance, and height, of all these elements for any size bass drum whether you sit high or low or close or far back. These are exclusive Rogers features. PEDAL STRAP LENGTH ADJUSTMENT B. There are three position holes in the leather strap. Original factory setting is first and third holes (double) for shortest position. This affects the height angle of the footboard. (Note that D and E effect footboard height angle without changing strap length.) D 3

ADJUSTMENTS (Cont'd) SWVEL ADJUSTMENT F. You can adjust your Swiv-o-Matic foot pedal so your foot is straight on the pedal no matter at what angle you sit behind the bass drum. Simply adjust the swivel unit left or right so your foot is square on the foot board when you are in your playing position. This adjustment does not affect any other function or adjustment in the Swiv-o-Matic pedal. This is a Rogers exclusive feature. ;). \ ADJUSTMENTS G.H.. For # 48-613 and #48-615 models only (Adjustable foot board models). f you have a large or small foot, you can adjust the length of the footboard at H. You can adjust the position of the heel relative to the base by adjusting the connecting rod length at "G". You can adjust the toe stop () to fit your own specific requirements either in terms of shoe size or in terms of your foot/ toe technique. 4 F H REMEMBER - ONCE YOU SET T, JUST RGHT FOR YOU, T WLL BE THE SAME EACH TME YOU SET UP. YOU'LL PLAY BETTER: FASTER, AND LONGER ON YOUR ROGERS SWV--MATC FOOT PEDAL. When you are ready to take your pedal off, just loosen the locking screw and slip the pedal off the hoop clamp. Loosen the two set screws on the receptacle of the standard and lay the top unit down flat on the footboard and base. t goes right into any standard trap case. f you don't wish to take any setting down, just unhook the connecting rod by lifting the heel plate up and pulling the rod out.
