issue 3, 2010 Ghouly News Why does a witch ride a broom? The vacuum cleaner s power is cord is too short. of the witch What terrible thing will she do next? Teachers turned into frogs. Children EATEN! Innocent dogs patted. Newts eyes not safe, toads without toes... the Ghouly News has learned that Witch Maralyn is on a terrifying warpath. She s told close friends she is desperate not to be forced to drink pupils concoctions if they bring in 2000 tombolas. Speaking only after we promised not to name them, the friends say the wickedlyfunny witch is worried she will be made to drink Milo and mud, which she has been afraid of since she was a girl, when her mother would force her to drink it so Maralyn s bones would grow strong and she could grow up to be a champion weightlifter, just like mummy. But with two weeks to go, pupils will have to work extra hard to provide the necessary tomobolas currently another 1700 are needed. Who knows what may happen?

Hanging Bats No Halloween Festival would be truly haunted without a swarm of bats flying about. These cardboard creatures look terrifically lifelike dangling from the trees -- we need everyone to make at least one bat to decorate the school. Materials Toilet tissue tube Black poster paint and brushes Black poster board or similar Googly eyes or painted on eyes Black felt (optional) Elastic cording Stapler Instructions For each bat, cut out two triangular ears from one end of a toilet tissue tube. Next, flatten the other end and staple it shut about 1 inch from the bottom. Cut a crescent shape in the stapled end to form the bat s tail. Paint the tube black and let it dry. Next, cut out a wing shape from a 1-foot-long strip of black poster board. (For a more hair-raising look, first glue a veneer of black felt to the poster board.) Staple the wings to the bat s body. Glue on googly eyes. or paint them on Finally, staple the elastic cord to the bat s back at the balance point, then bring the creature to school.

How can a building disappear slowly, as though a giant is taking bites out of it, nibbling away at it, each weekend while the students are away? Could it be Maralyn, incensed by the appearance of Gwendolyn, bewitching the building site, kapowing the classroom with her spells? Principal Ms Proud has her suspicions. She s unstoppable. In the middle of the night, I was in the garden. Then I heard a scary noise. It was zombies. They broke the garden fence. They chased me up to my bedroom. Then they got so close to me that they killed me. I was dead a very long time. Later, I came alive again, then I got a knife from the kitchen and killed the zombies. After they were all dead, I got a book and went to bed. By Luca Sarkis. Once upon a time there was a spooky car, and in the car was a vampire, and then the car had a ghost in it. How could that be?
