Guest Instructions Playing one of our murder mysteries requires no special acting abilities, just a willingness to have fun. Our site gives you all the details you need to prepare for the party including character descriptions of all guests, internal information about your character (do not reveal this to others), and costume/prop recommendations. During the party, each of you will be given clues. The clues provide all the information required to unlock the mystery. Each clue is designated as a clue to be concealed or a clue to be revealed. Conceal clues are generally information about your character that you try to hide (without lying) from the others. Reveal clues are ones that you should share with others in casual conversation. During the party, guests will mingle around asking questions about each other's character and about clues you have received. As the game progresses, you will gather more and more information and at the end of the allotted time you will need to sift through fact and fiction to decide who is the murderer. The characters can be played to suit the comfort zone of each player. If you like the spotlight or enjoy role playing, immerse yourself in your character s persona and live the night as you think they would. You may even decide to exaggerate your character s personality for even more effect. On the other hand, if you prefer to participate in a less theatrical capacity, you may want to sit on the couch and let people come to you, approach each character off to the side or just listen in on other conversations until you get your feet wet and are feeling a bit more comfortable. There are only a few simple rules to follow when playing our games. 1. Stay in Character. (Costumes are highly recommended) 2. Hide/Stretch the truth, but don't lie! 3. Interrogate others. Each game takes approximately 1-1/2 to 3 hrs, depending on the number of people playing. Host-Party.com Office Murder Mystery Games Page 3 of 13

Round 1 - Spirits & Suspects Round Instructions Create a laid-back Greek Island ambiance by decorating with palm trees and grape vines and soft music playing in the background. As your guests arrive, give each a nametag and a chance to get acquainted. Have each guest introduce themself and tell a little about their character. The host will then make the announcement about the murder and the mystery will begin. (General Clue) You will need to have a spear with red paint splashed on it (to look like blood), and a candle in a glass container, as these items will be introduced and displayed in Round 1. Be sure to warn the guests not to touch the evidence, as you will use the Fingerprint Analyzer to try to determine whose fingerprints are on the evidence found at the scene of the murder. After the announcement of the murder, as cocktails are being served, Round 1 envelopes should be handed out to each guest. You can also creatively display the clue-containing envelopes on a table for the guests to locate their own character names. This would be a good time to pass out the Murder Mystery Note Sheet (found in the Print Kit) to each of the guests and instruct them to use the sheet to compile their notes regarding their investigation of the clues and motives of each suspect. (Don t forget to supply pencils!) Be sure to give them a few minutes to read their clues before the round officially begins. When you see that they are ready, make an announcement to begin the round. This will make the mystery run more smoothly, as opposed to them reading while they try to mingle. General Clue (Share with all Guests) Greetings to all my gods and goddesses! As you may have heard by now, Zeus, the supreme ruler of the world, has been brutally murdered. Hermes, our trusted messenger, was the first to spot the victim and sadly informed me of this tragedy. When he took me to the place on Mt. Olympus, we found the head of Zeus, which had been severed, rolling on the ground, with many serpents slithering in his blood and swarming in and out of his head. There was a bloodied spear next to his head and a curious red flame dancing over his head. I truly believe that red flame is the reincarnation of Zeus! Therefore, I have captured that flame and put it in a glass for all of you to see. You can view the evidence on the table. We believe that someone here is responsible, as we all sure had our own issues with him. Therefore, we are together tonight to investigate and try to figure out who we think the murderer is before we let the common people know. Let s minimize as much negative publicity as possible! Round 1 Clue for Hera Trees & Flowers Trivia Questions: Who was equal to Zeus in Roman Mythology? Answer: Jupiter Who am I in Roman Mythology? Answer: Juno During this round, mingle with the gods and goddesses and discuss the following: You know that Artemis is such a wild thing, especially in the evenings. Zeus told you how furious he was with Artemis one time, when she turned one of his dear nymph friends into a weeping willow tree, and didn t change her back for three days! There was a patch of hyacinths around the area where Zeus was found. Isn t that the flower that Apollo made when he killed his lover, Hyacinthus? Maybe Demi can tell us who the real murderer is. She seems to always know it all! Note: If a character is not at this party, please ignore any clues pertaining to that character. This clue should be revealed to others. Round 1 Clue for Ares Snakes Alive Trivia Question: Who am I in Roman Mythology? Answer: Mars During this round, mingle with the other guests and discuss the following: If Hermes was the one who found Zeus, wouldn t that make him the murderer? Besides everyone knows that there are snakes on the staff he always carries, and there were snakes all around Zeus head. You wouldn t be a bit surprised if Heph had something to do with this murder, because Zeus totally rejected him all of his life. Zeus claimed that Heph was weak, ugly and imperfect and wanted nothing to do with this son. You know how bitter this has made Heph. Maybe Heph and Hermes were in cahoots regarding this murder. Note: If a character is not at this party, please ignore any clues pertaining to that character. This clue should be revealed to others. Host-Party.com Office Murder Mystery Games Page 6 of 13

Round 1 Clue for Athena The Threat Trivia Question: Who am I in Roman Mythology? Answer: Minerva During this round, mingle with the other guests and discuss the following: Heph once confided in you that he loved Aphrodite so much that he would kill anyone who would offend her. Zeus told you that he was very concerned about Hera lately. It seems she has been meeting with Zeus brothers, Hades and Poseidon. Perhaps they were plotting this heinous crime! Note: If a character is not at this party, please ignore any clues pertaining to that character. This clue should be revealed to others. Host-Party.com Office Murder Mystery Games Page 7 of 13

Round 1 Clue for Apollo Hera & Heph Trivia Question: Who am I in Roman Mythology? Answer: Apollo, same as Greek During this round, mingle with the other guests and discuss the following: You are quite aware of the malice that Queen Hera is capable of when it involves the Zeus' mistresses. She drove your poor, pitiful mother insane after you were born. However, Zeus latest challenge was the wife of Hera s favorite son, Heph, whom Hera wouldn t hurt for anything. So maybe, Hera had enough and was sick and tired of her carousing and cheating husband. And as far as Heph is concerned, you are not so sure that his magnificent work is his own creation, and not stolen designs from other talented artists. Maybe Zeus accusations regarding his works were true and Heph took his revenge out on Zeus. Note: If a character is not at this party, please ignore any clues pertaining to that character. This clue should be revealed to others. Host-Party.com Office Murder Mystery Games Page 8 of 13

Round 1 Clue for Artemis Dames & Games Trivia Question: Who am I in Roman Mythology? Answer: Diana During this round, mingle with the other guests and discuss the following: You and Zeus always played games with each other. Zeus used to turn your friends into all sorts of animals, and you loved them even better as these animals, so you kept them that way. Zeus was fonder of his friends as people. You remember when Ares was rejected by one of his nymphs, so he turned her into a mad dog, which he beat everyday until the poor mad dog died. Maybe, Ares temper flared up again, after a heated battle with his father, and swish off with his head! Note: If a character is not at this party, please ignore any clues pertaining to that character. This clue should be revealed to others. Host-Party.com Office Murder Mystery Games Page 9 of 13

Character Information The information below will provide you with the basic information for each character. If you have assigned guests to the characters, these pages will include the guest name and login information. THESE PAGES MAY INCLUDE DETAILS RELATED TO SOLVING THE MYSTERY! You may want to avoid these pages if you intend to try to solve the mystery. This sample kit will only show the first two characters. Hera (Queen of the Gods) Description: Hera is the wife of Zeus and therefore, the queen of the gods. She is the goddess of marriage and all things feminine. She and Zeus have two sons, Ares and Hephaestus. While she is beautiful, intelligent and dignified, she is quite hostile to all Zeus mistresses who have borne offspring with him and she often torments their children. She is secretly in love with Zeus brother, Poseidon. Motive: Hera is angry with Zeus for continually seeking comfort from other women, while he makes no secret of the fact that he prizes her fidelity. She once had an affair with Hades, but when Zeus discovered this, he sent Hades away to rule the underworld. He has threatened to do the same to Poseidon if he discovers any suspicious alliance between you two!
