1 - Signal Boosters General Information
What is a Signal Booster? Definition Device that automatically receives, amplifies, and retransmits on a bidirectional basis, the signals received from base, fixed, mobile, or portable stations, with no change in frequency or authorized bandwidth. Different names Signal Booster / BDA / Repeater What does it do? A Signal Booster takes an existing signal, amplifies it, and retransmits it to a space that is receiving weak or no signal in order to extend the radio coverage.
Types of Signal Booster FCC Part 90 Signal Boosters Class A Narrow-band (channelized) Just amplifies the signals intended to be retransmitted. Class B Broad-band Amplifies all the channels within certain bandwidth. Types depending on intermediate filtering Full Band (Class B) Band Selective (Class B) Adjustable Bandwidth (Class B) Channel Selective (Class A)
Types of Signal Booster depending on intermediate filtering 1 Full Band Full band filtering Cellular applications 2 Band Selective Sub-band filtering Cellular applications 3 Bandwidth Adjustable Programmable BW filtering Radio and Cellular applications 4 Channel Selective Channel filtering Radio system applications

Key parameters Intermediate filtering capabilities Defines the type of signal booster. Gain Dictates the smallest signal the SB can handle. Attenuation Range In applications where strong signals are present, configurable attenuators are needed. Output Power Dictates how large the provided coverage area can be. Automatic Gain Control (AGC) The AGC prevents the SB of having more than the maximum rated output power at its output.

4 Fiplex Digital Signal Boosters
Fiplex Digital Signal Boosters Fiplex HIGH TIER line of Signal Boosters. FCC part 90 Class A - Channel Selective Signal Boosters. Device specifically designed to work in Public Safety applications. Market: Facilities / Areas where the highest RF performance is needed/requested. Technology accepted in all jurisdictions. Differentiators: Highest performance in the market Digital FPGA based device Highly configurable device NFPA Ready Integrated Spectrum analyzer Frequency bands: VHF, UHF, 700MHz, 800MHz Accepts external duplexers for custom applications
High performance key parameters Class A / Channel Selective type of signal booster Higher rejection to interference. Selection of different BW vs Delay options in each filter (180KHz, 90KHz, 45KHz, 30KHz, 20KHz, and 15KHz). This makes the device very flexible upon different applications. The wider filters also allows the device to fit more than one channel per filter. 12 filters models (12 Uplink and 12 Downlink) 24 filters models (24 Uplink and 24 Downlink)
High performance key parameters Far-end preservation Definition: Also know as near-far effect, is the problem that occurs when a strong signal is captured by a transmitter inhibiting the possibility to receive a weaker signal. Conservation of far-end performance because the incorporation of AGC per channel and per time slot. Compatible with TDMA systems such as P25 PH2 and Tetra
High performance key parameters Outstanding noise performance Squelch per channel No amplification of channels if signal is not present. Squelch per time slot. Compatible with TDMA system like P25 Phase II or Tetra.
NFPA Ready All Fiplex Digital Signal Boosters are NPFA compliant: Fire RED NEMA4X DRY CONTACT ALARM OUTPUTS: SB FAIL & VSWR User can configure NC and NO dry contacts for installation flexibility.
Modular Structure All the Fiplex Signal Boosters share same internal components in a unique position strategy.

5 Fiplex Echo-Cancellation Signal Boosters
Why use a Signal Booster for Outdoor Coverage? To cover Coverage issues in scenarios like: Small Towns Blocked open areas Valleys Canyons Mines Temporary camps Where: Fast deployment is needed There is no big traffic demand Less infrastructure is available There is low budget
What is Digital Echo-Cancellation Signal Booster It is a Channel Selective Signal Booster that has the ability to cancel the Donor/Service feedback path allowing to drastically reduce the system Donor-Service isolation requirement. Donor-Service antenna isolation: Minimum needed isolation for a Standard 80dB Gain Signal Booster = 95dB Minimum needed isolation for an Echo Cancellation 80dB Gain Signal Booster = 60dB or even less
