Related Sections: 1. 13740 - Intercom and Clock/Bell Raceway System. 2. 13741 - Intercom and Clock/Bell Raceway System for PLCs. 3. 13745 - Intercom and Clock/Bell Systems. 4. Division 7 - Thermal and Moisture Protection. 5. Division 16 - Electrical. 1.02 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. Wireless Clocks: 1. Clock system shall continually synchronize clocks to each other throughout the facility and shall be capable of clock readouts in multiple time zones where desired. 2. The system shall utilize GPS technology to provide "atomic" time. 3. The system shall not require hard wiring. 4. Clocks shall automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time. 5. Clocks shall be synchronized to within 10 milliseconds 6 times per day, and the system shall have an internal oscillator to maintain + 1 second per day between synchronizations. Clock accuracy shall not exceed + 0.2 seconds. 6. The system shall include an internal clock so failure of the GPS signal shall not cause the clocks to fail in indicating time. 7. The system shall incorporate fail-safe design so failure of any component shall not cause failure of the system. a. Upon restoration of power or repair of failed Project No. SPECIFICATION GUIDELINES 13805-1

component, the system shall resume normal operation without the need to reset the system or any system component. 8. Clock locations shall be as indicated, and clocks shall be fully portable, capable of being relocated at any time. B. Wireless Tone (WT) Generator: 1. Timing and operation of the WT generator system shall be controlled by software provided by system manufacturer, housed in the transmitter and programmed by a Board furnished PC or laptop computer. 3. The system shall not require wiring from the transmitter to WT generator. 4. Initially and at scheduled intervals, the WT generator shall receive time data and command packet from the transmitter to send an audio tone to the intercom system. 5. The transmitter shall continuously broadcast (transmit) a time data packet and command packets to the WT generator. The transmitter shall operate on regulated FCC licensed frequencies to minimize interference on the selected channel. 6. The GPS unit shall receive the precise time via satellite from its vantage point with a "view of the sky" and continuously provide this precise time to the transmitter. 7. The system shall incorporate fail-safe design so failure of any component shall not cause failure of the system. Upon restoration of power or repair of failed component, the system shall resume normal operation without the need to reset the system or system component. 1.03 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS A.
