arris.com Headend Optics Platform (HLP) SPL7210S/A HL2 Series SUPRALink High Density DWDM Transmitter FEATURES Compact size enables 20 DFB modules to fit in a 3RU platform DWDM technology optimizes HFC network bandwidth Universal solution for network segmentation and fiberdeep applications Dual ports: one broadcast, one narrowcast Blind mate RF connectors for streamlined module insertion and removal 1.2 GHz RF provides the capacity to resolve future bandwidth issues Reduced power consumption lowers operating costs Flexible monitoring and control via HTTP web GUI or SNMP PRODUCT OVERVIEW The ARRIS HL2 Series SUPRALink SPL7210 DWDM transmitters address the need for service providers to expand fiber capacity while controlling costs as cable customers demand a growing number of services. ARRIS resolves this issue with a high density, low power solution that delivers unmatched efficiency for HFC networks. Designed as a universal replacement transmitter, SPL7210 1550 nm modules can be used for a wide variety of broadcast and narrowcast architectures, including full band single wavelength and full band multiple wavelengths, narrowcast and all digital DWDM. They can operate alone in local distribution or narrowcasting applications, or in combination with node products as a complete system solution. The transmitters are very compact, with 20 modules fitting into a single 3RU ARRIS HLP4800 broadband platform, helping to optimize headend real estate. Their low power consumption holds down operating costs to maximize the return on a service provider s capital investment.

Inclusion of broadcast and narrowcast inputs on the SPL7210 simplifies the RF combining network, while additional features such as dual rear blind mate RF connectors and a front access test point and optical connector ease system maintenance. Advanced predistortion circuitry and algorithms for both CTB and CSO provide state of the art distortion cancellation over a wide temperature range, and microprocessor control of all key parameters delivers consistent and optimum product performance and monitoring. The flat frequency response of SPL7210 modules helps assure high performance and efficient system integration. Maximize Your Existing Network Network capacity is truly optimized with SUPRALink transmitters. A 1550 nm DWDM network built with the SPL7210x combines closely spaced wavelengths from different laser light sources onto a single optical fiber, acting as a virtual method of adding more fibers to an existing network. The transmitters can increase the overall efficiency of a network by enabling up to 16 wavelengths carrying a full band load (up to 1.2 GHz) to be delivered through one fiber. This allows a few fibers to address the current needs of your HFC network, as well as support future growth for applications that require more bandwidth. The transmitter can also be used as a narrowcast transmitter carrying up to 40 wavelengths over up to 80 km of fiber. Extend Your Fiber Reach SUPRALink modules can transmit 1.2 GHz of analog and digital content to a link distance of up to 70 km. A network employing the SPL7210Sx offers up to 40% deeper fiber reach than 1310 nm systems, with comparable cost and more robust operation. The transmitters scale in one wavelength increments up to their maximum of 16 wavelengths per fiber for a full RF load, providing a simple, seamless, pay as you grow expansion path. Architecture Channel Count Wavelengths Link Distance Full Band 79 analog + 75 QA up to 8 λ up to 40 km Full Band DWDM 30 analog + 124 QAMS up to 16 λ up to 70 km Narrowcast DWDM 64 QAMS up to 40 λ up to 80 km All Digital DWDM 154 QAMS up to 16 λ up to 70 km

SPL7210S/A Typical Applications SUPRALink SPL7210 transmitters provide the flexibility to meet the requirements of all combining network architectures. They are ideal for narrowcast transmission, full spectrum all digital transmission, RFoG and full spectrum transmission of analog and digital broadcast and narrowcast channels. They also provide a seamless migration path from 1310 nm transmitters, enabling greater network segmentation and deeper fiber penetration.
