PROGRAMME OUTLINE The James Cook High School Radio Training programme is a fantastic introduction to professional radio broadcasting and audio production. The programme is designed and delivered by Commercial Radio consultant and professional broadcaster Doug Te Moni for exclusive use by James Cook High School. The programme is conducted within the On-Air Studio and Digital Audio production studio of the James Cook High School l.p.f.m radio station to compliment equipment supplied and installed by AVC GROUP (Audio Video Consulting Group). Students will be knowledgeable in ; Radio Industry key stakeholders RSM, BSA, ASA, TRN, RBA, Mediaworks. Commercial Radio Announcing. Audio Production Process (Write, Voice, Produce). Introduction to LPFM station operation Learners will be able to demonstrate understanding and competency in the use of ; FM Broadcasting Console (Allen & Heath ZED-XB14 Mixing desk). Digital Audio production desk (Samson MDR1688 Mixing desk). Radio Automation Software (Station playlist creator scheduling software & studio interface). Digital Audio production editing software (Adobe Audition Audio production editing software). Students will be able to ; Write, Voice, Produce a radio script. Host a live radio show. CYCLE STUDENTS PER CYCLE PROGRAMME LEVEL CREDITS AVAILABLE DELIVERY STYLE LEARNING PATHWAYS OUTCOME STATEMENT 8 WEEKS 8 3 12 Note : James Cook High School must supply All assessment booklets and must be accredited to assess against all Unit Standards contained herein. Delivery is through classroom, one on one and small group instruction. Delivery will employ auditory, visual and kinaesthetic learning styles. A variety of interactive teaching activities including subject specific handouts, tutorials, practical hands-on learning and one to one tuition will be used. This programme will equip learners with introductory written and oral communication skills, introductory audio production, voicing and announcing skills to enable entry into higher level study in the commercial radio, audio and music industry. All students will have an opportunity to produce a portfolio of written and audio evidence.
