LARGE PRINT CLASS SCHEDULE CALL 406-543-0509 to register or register online ADULT CLASSES SPRING 2018 Beginning Pottery This class is suitable for beginners and students needing a refresher Enroll on one of the following 10-week sessions: Wednesday evenings: April 4-June 6, 6-9pm Instructor: Chris Drobnock, Artist in Residence $215 for members/ $230 for non-members OR Thursday evenings: April 5- June 7, 6-9pm Instructor: Ben Jordan, Artist in Residence $215 for members/ $230 for non-members Students will learn about clay bodies, wheel-throwing, and hand building techniques, as well as processes for glazing and firing. Participants will practice making a variety of ceramic forms such as cups, handled mugs, bowls, vases, and plates. Requirements: A positive attitude and desire to try and learn!

Open Instruction This class is open to students of all skill levels Monday afternoons: April 2-June 4, 1-4pm Instructor: Ben Jordan, artist in residence $215 for members / $230 for non-members Bring your ideas to create your own projects. Weekly demonstrations will include new ideas and techniques, as well as demos designed to suit the needs of students enrolled. Continuing Pottery Prior experience with throwing on the wheel highly recommended Monday evenings: April 2-June 4, 6-9pm Instructor: Kirk Jackson, Artist in Residence $215 for members / $230 for non-members Ready to take your throwing skills to the next level? Students will explore techniques beyond the basics, including altering thrown forms for a unique look and creating more complex works such as lidded vessels, pitchers, and teapots. Students will be tasked to focus on design and function, and will have a chance to experiment with high-fire clay, glaze, and processes, including cone 10 gas reduction and soda firing.

Wood Firing - Exploring the Cross Draft Kiln Prior experience with ceramics highly recommended Tuesday evenings: April 3-June 5, 6-9pm Instructor: Scott McClellan, WoodFire Artist in Residence $295 members/$310 non-members (tuition: $210 for members/ $225 for non-members PLUS $85 firing/fuel fee for at least 2 firings) Students will be tasked to create functional and/or smaller sculptural ceramic works that will be wood fired in a 2-3 day period. The number of firings and firing approaches will be dependent on the number of students and desire of effects by participants. Options include a standard firing/cooling, reduction cooling, and/or wood/soda. In-class demonstrations and lectures will focus mostly on wood firing theory and practices allowing students plenty of time to concentrate on making pieces inspired by their own ideas. Students will be expected to spend time at the kiln site preparing for and firing the kiln (dates of firings to be discussed at first class meeting) SPRING BREAK CLASSES FOR KIDS & TEENS Sculpting Live Animal Models (For Ages 5-10) Monday March 26-Friday March 30, 9:30am - 11:30am daily $100 per child, per session ($10 discount for members) Learn to sculpt your favorite animals with live animal models! Students will practice basic clay sculpting techniques such as pinching, coiling and slip/scoring to build a solid foundation for

working in clay, while getting inspiration from real-life animals. Practice is fun when your favorite furry friend comes along! (*sign up available to bring your own pet to class for one session as a model - limitations apply) Teen Throwing Intensive (Ages 11-18) Monday March 26-Friday March 30, 1pm - 3:30pm daily $150 per child, per session ($10 discount for members) Students will learn about basic throwing techniques, finishing thrown forms, and glazing processes in this quick and dirty intensive. SPRING SESSION CLASSES FOR KIDS & TEENS Teen Throwing (for ages 11-18) Thursdays, April 5-26, 3:30-5:30pm (4 sessions) Instructor: Amy Louise York $120/student ($10 discount for members) This class is great for beginners, or returning throwing students. Getting wheel throwing down to an art takes practice, practice, practice. In this class, students will have lots of time to refine their throwing skills, and work on various decorative and finishing techniques for thrown wares over the course of the session. All-Ages Continuing Ceramics (for ages 5-12) Thursdays, May 3-June 7, 3:30-5:30pm (6 sessions) Instructor: Marlies Borchers $120/student ($10 discount for members) This class is great for siblings! Expect a little bit of everything: sculpture, pottery, and lots of fun!

SUMMER SESSION CLASSES FOR KIDS & TEENS All-Ages Kids Clay Camp (For ages 5-12) June 18-22, 9:30-11:30am This summer clay camp offers a little bit of everything: sculpture, pottery, and lots of fun! This is a great class for siblings! Beginning Pottery (For ages 9-16) June 25-29, 9:30-11:30am This class is great for kids with some clay experience. This class will explore the basics of making functional pottery, with emphasis on skill building. Students will produce some fun finished forms by the end of the week utilizing multiple building techniques. Techniques will include: coils, slabs, pinching, and wheel basics. Sculpting Animals with Clay: Live Animal Models! (For ages 5-10) July 9-13, 9:30-11:30am Learn to sculpt your favorite animals with live animal models! Students will practice basic clay sculpting techniques such as pinching, coiling and slip/scoring to build a solid foundation for working in clay, while getting inspiration from real-life animals. Practice is fun when your favorite furry friend comes along! (*sign up available to bring your own pet to class for one session as a model - limitations apply)

Teen Sculpture Class (For ages 11-17) July 23-27, 9:30-11:30am This class is great for kids with some clay experience. Techniques will include: coils, slabs, pinching, and wheel basics Wearable Ceramics Class (For ages 5-16) July 30-August 3, 9:30-11:30am We ll spend a week making beads, pendants, and medallions! Experiment with finishing techniques every day, and go home with a very special treasure collection! NEW Full day camp! Ceramics and Geology Class (For ages 7-12) August 13-17, 9:30am-3:30pm $275/student ($15 discount for members) Students will experiment with different clays, learn about where clay comes from, and learn more about Earth s rocks and minerals, and the systems that act upon them. Adventures include dabbling with local clay, experiments with weathering, and witnessing the transformation of clay to ceramics with a special Raku fire demo! Teen Throwing Class (For ages 11-18) August 20-24, 9:30am-12pm $150/student ($10 discount for members) This class is great for beginners, or returning throwing students.
