MicroBoom Carbon Fiber Boom Arms OVERVIEW The MicroBoom integrated carbon fiber boom system is available in three lengths: 24, 50 and 84 and is designed to be used with the award winning Micros Series of miniaturized condensers. Lightweight and able to attach to any standard microphone stand, the MicroBoom is a problem solver for portability and hard-to-reach miking applications including choir, live theater and orchestra. The MicroBoom can be used with a choice of capsules in the Micros Series, offering a broad choice of pick-up pattern and frequency response. A high quality shielded cable is used internally to insure the cleanest audio signal path between the microphone and the bottom of the boom, which terminates in a mini-xlr male connector. The MCBOOM adaptor allows for total control over the angle, rotation and position of the carbon fiber rod. The MicroBoom provides an ultra-clean, professional and elegant appearance on stage while providing exceptional performance and portability. The microphone shall be protected from RF interference. The microphone shall have a fully integrated preamp circuit thereby eliminating the need for a remote preamplifier module. The microphone shall operate on 18-52 Volts DC and the nominal output impedance shall be equal to 150 ohms at 1 khz. The microphone shall have a sensitivity of 10 mv (C/HC), 11mV (O/S) / Pa at 1 khz. The microphone shall have a maximum SPL level of 140 db with THD of 0.5%, the microphone shall be machined out of brass and the dimensions shall be 12 mm in diameter by 54 mm in length. The microphone shall be the Audix M1250B. OPERATION The M1250B is a low impedance microphone and should be plugged into a mic level input on your console, mixer or recording device. The M1250B requires phantom power and will NOT operate without phantom power voltage (48 Volts recommended) which is available on most professional mic preamps and mixing devices. If phantom power is not available on your equipment, use a phantom power supply such as the Audix APS2. Avoid plugging or unplugging the microphone from a PA system unless the channel is muted or the volume of the system turned down. Failure to do so may result in a loud popping noise which could seriously damage the speakers in the PA system, studio monitors or headphones. M1250B FREQUENCY RESPONSE POLAR PATTERNS Cardioid Hypercardioid Omni Shotgun USER TIPS The M1250B, despite its size, has all the attributes of a world class recording microphone. Low noise integrated electronics allows the microphone to function in the close field as well as in distance miking. It can be used on a wide variety of acoustics instruments as well as on voice and vocal ensembles. Cardioid: The cardioid pattern is the most widely used as it offers a good balance between the sound of the instrument or voice within the context of the room or venue. For instruments, the M1250B may be positioned anywhere from 3-12 inches depending on instrument and room acoustics. For speech or singe voice the typical working distance is 8-10 inches. For area miking or group vocals the working distance can be between 2-3 feet from the sound source. Hypercardioid: In situations where the volume is loud on stage or there are many open microphones, this pattern is helpful in further isolating the instrument or vocal from the rest of the instruments on stage. The microphone can be worked at ½ the distance of cardioid if necessary. Supercardioid: This pattern has a longer reach and more narrow pattern than the other cardioid patterns. This pattern is helpful for podium applications where more distance is a factor. It is helpful in pin-pointing hard to reach areas, especially for recording outdoors, and with video. Omni: This pattern offers the most accurate and natural sound reproduction of all the patterns. It is ideal for recording, live broadcasts or video where sound reinforcement speakers are not an issue. Further miking techniques may be found on our website at www.audixusa.com. Failure to do so may result in a loud popping noise which could seriously damage the speakers in the PA system, studio monitors or headphones. USER TIPS The M1255B is designed with extremely high sensitivity. This, in conjunction with very low noise electronics, allows it to be used as a distance microphone either overhead or on a table. The M1255B is particularly effective in situations where achieving the proper gain is a challenge, either because the mic mixer has limited gain or the strength of the sound source. Cardioid: With its small size, the M1255B can also be used in hard to reach areas, such as beneath cymbals. For orchestral instruments, the M1255B may be positioned anywhere from 3-12 inches depending on instrument and room acoustics. For speech or single voice, the typical working distance is 8-10 inches. For area miking or group vocals the working distance can be between 2-6 feet from the sound source. Hypercardioid: In situations where the volume is loud on stage or there are many open microphones, this pattern is helpful in further isolating the instrument or vocal from the rest of the instruments on stage. The microphone can be worked at ½ the distance of cardioid if necessary. M1255B Supercardioid: This pattern is a preference for podium applications. It is helpful in pin-pointing hard to reach areas, especially for recording outdoors and with video. Omnidirectional: This pattern offers the most accurate and natural sound reproduction of all the patterns. It is ideal for recording, live broadcasts or video where sound reinforcement speakers are not an issue. Not recommended for conferencing applications. It is helpful in pinpointing hard to reach areas, especially for recording outdoors, and with video. Omni-Directional: The Omni pattern offers the most accurate and natural sound reproduction of all the patterns. It is ideal for recording, live broadcasts or video, where sound reinforcement speakers are not an issue.
