(December 26, 2017) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC Attorney Alexandra Ableitner has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Pinnacle Health Auxiliary as a board member and parliamentarian. She was recommended by Chris Markley, General Counsel for Pinnacle and appointed to the indefinite term by the Auxiliary President Amy Huck. Alex s practice focuses on contracts and regulatory guidance. She works with companies to reach their goals by managing governance documents, assisting with mergers and acquisitions, and staying up-to-date on ever-changing healthcare and food law regulations. Prior to joining the firm, Alex worked in-house for Penn National Insurance and interned for the international legal department of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., as well as Tyson Foods, Inc..

Kandice Hull Named Chair of McNees Litigation Group Harrisburg, Pa. (January 2, 2018) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC Attorney Kandice Kerwin Hull succeeds Jim DeAngelo as the Chair of the Litigation Group effective January 1, 2018, the firm recently announced. We are fortunate to have an attorney of Kandice s experience and dedication to lead the Litigation Practice Group in our rapidly changing industry, said McNees Wallace & Nurick Chairman David M. Kleppinger. She is one of the Firm s next generation of leaders who will build upon the foundations of her predecessors with her commitment to serving our clients, our profession, and our community. Within the Litigation Group, Kandice also leads the Eminent Domain Practice, as well as the Appellate & Post Trial Practice Group. She is part of the Pipeline and Oil/Gas Infrastructure Groups. She focuses her practice on the representation of clients in complex commercial litigation in business disputes. She has particular experience in real property litigation, including eminent domain matters and oil and gas related real property disputes. Kandice handles both federal and state claims, and has represented clients in cases involving breach of contract claims, quiet title actions, and land use disputes, among others. She is a respected litigator and a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. Kandice regularly counsels both condemnors and condemnees in eminent domain matters. She has experience defending private property owners in both federal and state condemnation actions. She has successfully secured the constitutional guarantee of payment of just compensation for the taking of the property and damages to the remainder property caused by condemnation. Kandice has additionally assisted clients in asserting inverse condemnation claims where the condemning authority s activities resulted in a taking of private property without formal condemnation proceedings. On the other side of such matters, Kandice has experience asserting the rights of public entities under the Eminent Domain Code and the Pennsylvania Business Corporation Law, including, among others, the right of public utilities related to Marcellus Shale infrastructure projects. Kandice has experience in the appellate courts, representing individuals, businesses and trade organizations in matters before the Pennsylvania Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth Courts and consulting on matters proceeding to appellate litigation. Kandice previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas G. Saylor, now the Chief Justice of Pennsylvania.

Kandice is active in ALFA International; the global legal network of which McNees is a member and can connect McNees clients to attorneys around the world. Kandice also served for many years as the firm s pro bono coordinator, and is actively involved in a variety of pro bono initiatives, individually, and on behalf of McNees. She was the Dauphin County Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2011. A summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate with a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College, Kandice received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Andrews joins Steve Weingarten as co-chair of the firm s Real Estate Group effective January 1, 2018. In that role, he instructs planning commission members, zoning officers, and other municipal officials on zoning, subdivision and land development matters.
