CLOTHING, NEEDLEWORK, QUILTS, & TEXTILES Phyllis Van Sambeek, & Vicki Vermillion Co-Chairpersons: Phyllis (661) 946-2594 Entries Close: July 7 th, 2018 5pm Entry Fee: $2.00 per entry per class Limit: Two (2) entries per class per exhibitor Exhibits Received: Sunday, Aug. 5 th, 2-7 p.m. Exhibits Released: Monday, Aug. 27 th, 2-7 p.m. American System of Judging GENERAL RULES: 1. Committee has the right to display the articles as they see fit. 2. All entries in this department must have been home produced by the exhibitor and completed within one year of the opening date of Fair. 3. Exhibits must be clean and pressed. The committee reserves the right to refuse or accept any article that shows evidence of being old or soiled. 4. Hanging articles must be ready to hang, (Quilts do not need tube). Backs will not be judged on needlework and stitchery. Items may be framed and glassed. Pillows may be sewn closed. 5. Exhibitors should be sure articles are entered in the proper class for judging. If in doubt as to which class to enter, please contact the department chairperson. 6. Please identify the finished side of knitted or crocheted item by placing a small safety pin on the finished front side of display. 7. Measurements of needlework and stitchery does not include frame or mat. Height refers to measurement from top to bottom of item. 8. Entries must not be placed in any other category if class already exists for that entry. Third entry will be disqualified as there is a TWO ENTRY PER CLASS LIMIT. 9. Exhibitors name must be covered if it appears on item. 10. My First item refers to the fact that you are a beginner and have never made an item for the division you are entering. Item must have been completed since last Fair. LIMIT ONE (1) ENTRY PER CLASS PER EXHIBITOR. 11. No plastic canvas, see Handicraft Department. 12. Entries are limited to exhibitors who live in the State of California. PREMIUMS OFFERED PER 1st - $7 2nd - $5 3rd - $3 Division Winners are selected from the first-place winners in each class. (Rosette Ribbon Only) Best of Show will be selected from Division Winners. (Rosette Ribbon Only) Sweepstakes gift donated by: Phyllis Van Sambeek and Vicki Vermillion Sweepstakes Award is given to the amateur exhibitor accumulating the highest number of points. It shall be awarded on a basis of total ribbons won, with points to be counted as follows: 1st - 5 points, 2nd - 3 points, 3rd - 1 point, Best of Show - 5 points and Division Winner - 3 points.
