Mini-ID Temper Bead (IDTB) for Bottom-Mounted Nozzle (BMN) Integrity Nearly 60 US plants have the potential for Primary Water Stress Corrosion Cracking (PWSCC) on their RV Bottom-Mounted Nozzles (BMNs). As plants age, the likelihood of PWSCC occurring in a Dissimilar Metal (DM) weld increases. The bottom line? With our mini-id Temper Bead (IDTB) welding techniques, you can eliminate all Alloy 600 from service and implement a permanent solution for continued BMN integrity. Mini-IDTB weld mitigation of the BMNs can be performed with the RV in the flooded condition, reducing radiation exposure and impact to your outage schedule. This is an adaptation of our IDTB RVCH tooling successfully proven with extensive experience. Comprehensive Repair Technology From weld overlays and inlays to machining services; from our industry-best tooling to material remediation and virtually all types of repair for components and internals, AREVA has everything you need. Want timely solutions backed by the latest global research? We ve got you covered. 5
Remote-Controlled In-Pipe Manipulators The global AREVA teams have more than 25 years experience in the manufacture and application of advanced, modulardesigned in-pipe manipulators. In fact, we perform repairs via remote operation up to 300 feet. Our service track record spans over 30 nuclear plants worldwide, including applications that range from inspection, milling and welding through sample retrieval. We can permanently remove PWSCC indications and prevent flaws in both horizontal and vertical piping. Moreover, the tooling removes weld sag for improved NDE, and can also perform ID surface crack examination. The in-pipe manipulators offer another option when access to pipe IDs is more complex and requires the crawler features to deliver the appropriate end-effectors. Consider this: our in-pipe manipulators have already been deployed successfully and safely at 21 PWRs and 11 BWRs in nine countries. 6 High-Deposition Welding for Reduced Overlay Schedules In addition to the RV primary nozzles, the industry must address additional susceptible locations such as the DM weld configurations on Reactor Coolant Pumps (RCPs), RV primary nozzles and BWR large-bore pipe. A challenge facing the industry is to perform weld overlay mitigation at these locations. Current welding approaches are not desirable since weld deposition rates result in excessive dose and schedule. We have a history of developing innovative technologies to reduce schedule impacts while maintaining high-quality services. We continue this legacy by addressing the need for increased filler metal deposition rates for largediameter weld overlay projects. By reducing schedules and minimizing overall crew sizes, we can control the impact to other work activities and the overall outage. AREVA is proud to have established a multi-year international development program to adapt proven, high-deposition GTAW techniques for our robust, field-hardened welding front-end designs. Production tool development has shown that these advanced welding techniques, which utilize a dual hot/cold wire, have demonstrated dramatic increases for real deposition rates. With AREVA s highly experienced technicians, we have bundled a safe, innovative process that provides a clear path to high-quality welds at improved deposition rates, contributing significantly to overall project success.

Industry-Best Tooling is No Accident Our teams receive design input from various sources including process engineers, operators and technicians at the conceptual stages of tool development. Most importantly, customers provide essential input through site visits and participation in Design Review Boards (DRB), contributing significantly to the solution development process. The various inputs are assessed to design the tools or modify and adapt field-proven technology. To ensure safe quality performance, our engineers deploy to the field with the equipment. All tooling design is based on practical experience, with robust design and safety as our top priorities. Contingency operations are also a primary design criterion.
