CURRICULUM VITAE OF SPEAKERS: Ph. D. María del Pilar Noriega E.: current Director General of ICIPC (Instituto de Capacitación e Investigación del Plástico y del Caucho). Chemical Engineer of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellin and Polymer Chemist of the Technical University of Dresden (Germany). She has graduate studies in thermoplastic extrusion of the University of Stuttgart (IKT - Germany). She holds a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on polymers from the University of Wisconsin Madison, USA, 2001. Head of the Extrusion department of ICIPC since 1993 and since 1997, she served as Technical Director of the same institute until June 2012, when she was appointed as its General Director. Member of Extrusion Division Board of Directors of Society of Plastics Engineers, SPE, USA. Co-author of five books and numerous technical papers in international journals. She is co-inventor of four patents granted in Colombia, two granted patents in the U.S. and two international patent applications. Iván Darío López, Ph.D: Current technical director of ICIPC. Production engineer of Universidad EAFIT. He has a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on polymers from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA, 2009. Co-author of a book on numerical methods and numerous technical papers in international journals. He is co-inventor on one US patent application and PCT application. M.Sc. Omar Augusto Estrada R.: current Deputy of ICIPC Continuous Processes. Chemical Engineer graduated of the National University of Medellin and graduate studies in Transformation Processes for Plastics and Rubber from ICIPC-EAFIT. He holds the title of Master of Engineering in Polymer Processing at EAFIT University - ICIPC. He worked in the Technical Division of ICIPC, specifically in the area of Extrusion, from 1997 to 2006. He joined as chief operating officer of a company active in Medellin until February 2009 and since then he serves as Assistant Director of the Institute Continuous Processes Department. Author of numerous articles in national and international journals. Mag. Alexander Hernández M.: Mechanical Engineer from Universidad EAFIT of Medellín, Colombia with graduate studies in Transformation Processes of Plastics and Rubber from Universidad EAFIT - ICIPC. He received his Engineering Master degree with emphasis in Polymer Processing, at Universidad EAFIT - ICIPC. He has 18 years of experience in the plastics sector industry, both domestically and abroad. Since 2013, he joined again to the Institute as Head of Products Area. He is coinventor of an USPTO and PCT patent application. Author of articles in national and international journals. Mag. Silvio Ospina: Chemical and BA in Mathematics from Universidad de Antioquia, and receive his Chemical Sciences Master degree at the same university, where he was a polymer materials teacher for 3 years. He is coinventor of a granted patent in Colombia and coauthor of articles in national and international journals. He has been working at ICIPC since 1998. Qca. Esp. Catalina Álvarez R.: Chemist from the University of Antioquia, with graduate studies in Transformation Processes of Plastics and Rubber from Universidad EAFIT - ICIPC. He has taken training courses in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography. She worked in the area of Maintenance and Support and in the Chemical Toxicology Laboratory of Medellin. She works for ICIPC since January 2012. Ing. Esp. Juan Carlos Ortiz P.: Mechanical Engineer from Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Medellín, with graduate studies in Transformation Processes of Plastics and Rubber from Universidad EAFIT ICIPC. He has been a research assistant for the Tribology and Surfaces Group of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Medellín and worked as an engineering assistant at the company Servicios Hidrogeológicos Integrales S.A.S. He is co-author on an industrial design application and a patent application in Colombia. He has been working at ICIPC since 2013 as Assistant of the Technical Division. Ph. D. Antoine Ríos: has been with The Madison Group since 1999. Dr. Ríos received his Ph.D. from the Polymer Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1999. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Edgewood College, Madison, Wisconsin and is fluent in Spanish. His current work concentrates in the analysis of plastics failure, plumbing product failures, forensic analysis, plastics part design and computer aided engineering (CAE). He is currently a senior member of the Society of Plastic Engineers where he serves as director of the Composites Division and the Failure Analysis Special Interest Group. He is a participating member of ASTM International (subcommittee F17 plastic piping systems) and has served as a reviewer of SBIR/STTR phase I/II proposals for the National Science Foundation.
