The Law of Attraction It s the very law that will apply to everyone, not just you or me. When understood and followed correctly, you can use it to your best advantage. So, let s talk about the Law of Attraction and what it means for you. Aimee Groth explains it quite well with this quote: Psychologists, New Age thinkers, and religious leaders have been talking about the Law of Attraction for years though it gained popularity again when the book The Secret made waves in 2006. The law is simply this: We attract whatever we think about, good or bad. Whether or not you believe in the power of the universe, there is scientific research that proves the effects of positive thinking. (Groth, 2012) It s really a simple concept, but it isn t one that most people follow. You attract to yourself what you send out. Even those who don t believe in anything spiritual need to understand that this law still applies. There is power in thinking positively. Why Does It Work? There are a few different things that explain why the Law of Attraction actually works. Let s look at them. The more you dwell on something, the more you are likely to experience it. Have you ever noticed that people who are convinced they are going to get sick often do? Your mind and body react to what you dwell on the most, and that means you can actually think yourself into not getting the things you want. THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 3

Thinking on a subject is inviting that thing in. Do you remember that infamous scene in the original Ghostbusters? The one where the Stay-Puff marshmallow man showed up because someone was thinking about it? Negativity is like your very own marshmallow man. When you give a negative thing your thoughts, that negative thing will get bigger and bigger until it consumes your reality. You gives things power even if they don t already have it. For example, by focusing on something, you will make it worse. If you constantly think to yourself that you will tank that job interview, you are likely to give that idea power and make it come true. When you focus on your attention on the things you want and desire, those good things will come to you more quickly. That s because by focusing on these things, you will actually prompt yourself to move toward them. You can t make a change to a new way of life if you can t imagine things as you want them to be. By envisioning better things, you will know exactly what you are working toward. These are real things, not just mumbo-jumbo that someone thought up one day. They are real and documented, and they show the exact characteristics of the Law of Attraction. How Can You Make the Law of Attraction Work for You? The Law of Attraction is very powerful and it can bring so much good to your life when you know how to use it. It really isn t that hard either. It s all a matter of changing the way you think about things. Start by taking a few moments and come up with the topics you give the greatest amount of thoughts to. What do you dwell on the most? Those are the things that will be attracted THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 4

to you. Essentially, you are like a magnet. What you think about is how you will be magnetized. So, here are the steps you need to take to bring the right things into your life. Don t think about, dwell on, or give any power to negative things in the past. You will only be bringing more negativity into your present. You can t even think about them in a way that you don t want them to happen. In other words, no more thinking, I don t want this to happen or This shouldn t happen. Even thinking about them in this way will bring the negative things to you. Learn how to focus on your good feelings and emotions. When you feel bad or have negative emotions, this will lead to negative thoughts, and that will lead to negatives in your life. You need to learn how to turn your bad feelings into good ones, like excitement, joy, happiness, love, passion, gratitude, and hope. It s important that you learn how to take charge of your emotions. If you think you can t control them, then this is just another excuse. Instead, when you start to feel negative emotions or something bad happens in your life, you have to make the conscious decision to think of positives instead. Surround yourself with other positive people. When you are around others who think the same way you are striving to, then you will find it so much easier to focus on the positives for yourself. Take actions that are inspired by the things you want in life. If an action you take isn t moving you forward, then it is just wasted. Your job isn t just to think of the positives, but also act on the positives for your own benefit. THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 5

The Law of Attraction can work in your life if you use these steps to make it a regular part of your thought process. However, there is one other thing you must do to make it work you must know how to visualize. Visualization Visualization is a very powerful tool that goes hand in hand with the Law of Attraction, and unfortunately, it s one of the most overlooked by a lot of people. Some have set a limitation on themselves that they aren t capable of having a big or strong imagination. That just isn t true, though. Your mind is infinitely capable of imagining and visualizing. It s time to start dusting off the cobwebs of your imagination and put it to work. You can t just want good things in your life. You have to live your life as if you have already received those good things. Think about it this way. If you are poor and you want to be rich, you probably think things like: I am tired of being poor. I want more money. I want to be rich. The problem with these thoughts is that you are still focusing on the negatives. You are still looking at what you don t have instead of the life you want to have. In other words, according to the Law of Attraction, you are still attracting the negatives to yourself. So, how can you be different? Start visualizing your life just the way it will be when you get all the things you want and stop thinking about the things you are without in your current life. It also means that you need to stop adding limitations to your wants. For example, if you don t have a decent car, you may think, I want a new car, but I can t afford one so I just have to live with what I have. Do you see the problem in thinking this? You are visualizing THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 6

the negative (you don t have a car and you don t have the money to buy one). You won t ever get that car this way! To get you started in changing the way you think about these things so that you can visualize the positive, here are some different thought processes or statements along with the correct way to visualize them. Negative Visualization I am poor. I am fat. I am lonely. I want a new job, but I am afraid I will lose my current one if I try. Positive Visualization I am rich in so many ways, and I will be rich in finances too. I can see myself healthy and fit. I will be surrounded by loved ones. I am going to get a new job. Or I want a new job, and I will find the right one. I want to find love, but nobody understands me. I will find love and it will enhance my life. So, take some time and start considering how you visualize your life. What kinds of thoughts and statements have you been dwelling on? If you have been focusing on the negative for a very long time, you may find it hard to start visualizing the positive, and you may need a frame of reference, so try this little exercise: Stop what you are doing right now, get a piece of paper and a pen. Now, I want you to close your eyes and imagine just what your life will be like if you have all of the things you want and dream of. Don t limit anything imagine it all! Now, open your eyes and write down that image. Be as detailed as you can about your life, your job, your wealth, your THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 7

relationships. Write it all down and then post that image somewhere prominent in your house. This way, whenever you start losing the vision in your mind, look at what you wrote down. You will have a frame of reference to keep you on track. Visualization and the Law of Attraction work hand-in-hand. When you visualize the things you want and you imagine you are already living that life, you will automatically be thinking the positive thoughts that you want to attract to yourself. It s just that simple! Intentions + Action = Reality It s important that you get one thing straight right now. You can t think, Okay, well I am visualizing and I am sending out good thoughts. Now I just need to sit on this couch and wait for them to happen. It doesn t work that way! Instead, you have to have positive intentions and thoughts, and you must put energy behind them. When you put the energy into your intentions, then you will actually take action, and when you take action, the good things will become your reality. Here s a good little scenario to understand this concept: Think about a little puppy. When that dog wants something, like a treat, he will do everything possible to get that treat. He may beg, cry, bark, jump up and down, do his best to get into the treat bag, and run around the room. What usually happens? You think that the puppy is cute so you give him a treat. He got what he wanted because he understood the need for energy behind his intentions. He intended to get a puppy snack and he put all his energies toward it. As a result, he made that snack a reality. Here s the problem with most adults. They are so used to depriving themselves of the things they want and need in life that they are never able to put any energy into them. THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 8

They may intend to lead a better life, but because they focus on everything else but themselves, they never actually put the energy behind leading that life. A very big part of the Law of Attraction is knowing that you need to take action to bring those positive things to you. You can t just sit on the couch and expect anything to happen. It just will not work that way. So, let s recap: Thinking positives brings those positives to you. Visualizing life the way you want it to be will help you achieve that image. You have to put energy behind your intentions for them to come true. Positive intentions plus energy will lead to action and reality. That sounds pretty straightforward, doesn t it? It really is and it can make an immense difference in your life! Once you start thinking the positives and visualizing the life you want, then you have done something really important you have taken another step toward elevating your mind! Why exactly do you need to better understand the Law of Attraction and how to visualize the reality you want? Remember that clarity helps your mind understand what you do want and then visualization helps you to actually see it. The Law of Attraction is what will bring those things to you. If you don t know how to mold and use the Law of Attraction, then it won t work in your favor. It s vital that you remember when sending out the positives, you will receive positives back. THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 9

I Am Statements You won t be able to immediately shift your mind to the positive, especially if you have been dwelling on the negative for many years. However, the quicker you are able to change your mindset, the faster the Law of Attraction will start working for you. One thing that you can do is practice writing I am statements. These are statements (always positive) about yourself. Even if you don t fully believe them right now, you need to practice thinking them. By thinking these statements, you will find it much easier to focus on the positives. Here are some examples of I am statements: I am inspired. I am happy. I am smart. I am compassionate. I am funny. I am making things happen. I am patient. I am (you fill in the blank) THE SECRET TO MAKING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK FOR YOU 10

Make yourself think of these statements. Ensure you know how to dwell on them and do not allow anything negative about yourself to creep in. Once you learn how to avoid the negatives about yourself, you can start learning how to focus on the positives about everything else too. Your Lesson The Law of Attraction is a powerful force, and it works with the Law of Clarity too. Think about it this way: when you want to imagine the positives and visualizing what you want, you bring those things to you (The Law of Attraction). To visualize these things, you need to be clear on what you want (The Law of Clarity). So, let s do some diagnostics to see where you stand after reading this chapter. Imagine you are saying the following statements. After you read each one, answer true or false. I think good things and only focus on the positives. I want to dwell on the positive, and I can if I continue to practice. True or false, this is a positive statement: I want to lose weight, but I tried everything and it didn t work. I have visualized a clear image of what I want for my future. I am ready to take actions in my life to make my intentions turn into reality. How do you feel after you answered these questions? Do you think you have started on the right path toward the positives? Even if you aren t quite there, you are at least on the right path and that is a very big step!
