Foreword Getting in touch with the things that interest you and those that you are passionate about is the most important part of this process. By finding those passions and converting them to a money-making business can be one of the most rewarding activities for Baby Boomers as they enter this stage of life. I suggest taking a few days or even a week to go through this workbook. You don t have to fill in every section but, certainly, take your time and apply your focus on the ones that seem most relevant to you. This is really an exercise in brainstorming on paper, so we are looking for possibilities. This is NOT the time to eliminate things on your list, we will narrow the list at a later point in Lesson 1. Enjoy, stay loose, get creative and dig deep! Page 3
Introduction Sometimes our passions and interests have been so buried, unrecognized, underappreciated, or just plain unrewarded that it is hard for us to recognize them. This process, that we will lead you through today, will be very helpful in probing all the nooks and crannies in your brain in order to come up with a group of possibilities that will delight your soul! A few thoughts before you begin This section involves writing, and we ve found that handwriting works best. (You might want to read this blog post to understand why: http://lifehacker.com/5738093/why-you-learn-moreeffectively-by-writing-than-typing) So, even if you are completely comfortable filling in these responses on your computer, please do it by hand on a printout of this document. You can also carry the document with you. Some of your best ideas occur when you are away from your computer. Doing these exercises in different settings will yield more insightful results. Remember, this is your process and neatness DOESN T count! Write in the margins, on the back, change your mind, have a breakthrough! This is your process and your future! The ABCs of Uncovering Your Passions and Interests A deceptively simple, 3-step process is your gateway to uncovering your earning potential on the global market. A = Activate B = Broaden C = Concentrate Page 4
Step 1-- Activate Your key to opening the door! (Part 1) In this step, you answer a lot of questions designed to help you remember skills and abilities you may have forgotten or might be blind to. Some of the questions might seem redundant they are not they are designed to help you dig deeper on an issue. Answer the ones that seem redundant from a deeper place in your psyche. Step 2 Broaden Looking outside yourself. (Part 2 & 3) If you are a master of a subject, write it down and put an A next to it. If you have in interest in a subject, but are not yet a master, place a B next to it. If you think you might like to enjoy a specific subject, but are neither a master of it nor well-versed in it, put a C Step 3 Concentrate A Direction Emerges (In Lesson #1) One of the things we see that stops so many global earners in their tracks is paralysis of analysis. They capture the vision and get bogged down in the detailed analysis and somehow exit the process and gravitate back to the couch and in front of the TV. Don t let that happen to you! Don t attempt to boil the ocean. Take everything you ve learned and boil it down to the Concentrate section. Slash and burn! Make arbitrary decisions. This is the time to eliminate the marginal opportunities and focus on the options, topics of interest, desires, and dreams that will bring out your best. Page 5
