A few words from Wendy NQPA President Memberships are now due! Forms are attached with this newsletter if you d like to renew online. The door code has been changed. Contact me if you d like the new code. A reminder that the V8 s are on this weekend and we suggest you don t try to use the studio from Friday Sunday. The roads will be blocked off and cars parked all around the studio. Edward s cancelled his Saturday class. If you really want to go to the studio there are some parking vouchers on the desk which you can pick up during the week. We re going ahead with the clean up on Friday 22 July please remove any work that s been sitting around for months. This includes work/clay that s been left in the store room. If you want to keep anything then name and date it so it s clear that it s in use. We ve just managed to retrieve some books from a past member taken out 7 years ago!!! We ve cleaned up the exhibition area and Catherine s organising a changing display in the main glass showcase which is currently showing work by Margaret and Louise. This will be changed monthly, from the beginning of each month, and bookings are written in the front of the diary (current planner). Next available space is September so please phone Catherine if you re interested 4789 1821. How about some students work? The work doesn t have to be for sale - it s an opportunity to see what everyone is making. If you do want to sell just put price stickers on the bottom of the work. 1

MINUTES OF NQPA INC COMMITTEE MEETING held 15 th JUNE 2016 Meeting opened at 4.00pm Present: Wendy Bainbridge, Jeff Tillack, Sharon Jewell, Louise Watson and Margaret Crawford. President moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be taken as read, seconded Margaret Crawford. Correspondence: Inwards: NR Gas $130, V8 vouchers x 6, Aust Ceramic Renewal due July, Telstra $101. Email: Greg - kick wheel sit down. Wendy moved that the correspondence inwards & outwards be accepted, seconded Sharon Jewell. Carried. Treasurer s Report: B/F $8650.93 less withdrawals $1502.69 add deposits $2198.95 Bal as at 31st May 2016 $9347.19 Business Saver A/c $12700.33. Treasurer moved that the balance be accepted as is and the accounts be passed for payment, seconded Wendy Bainbridge. Carried. Studio Report - Nil Kiln Report - Nil Clay Report - correct count at the eom. Louise advised that she would be placing an order this week mainly BRT and PB103. Library - overdue books are being chased up. GENERAL BUSINESS Membership - door code to be changed due to the end of financial year. Studio clean up - Members to be reminded in the newsletter again of the mid year clean up on Friday 22 July. Gift - Congratulations to Edward and Jodi on the arrival of a baby girl, Ferne. OPEN STUDIO ON FRIDAY MORNINGS WE ARE ORGANISING A ROSTER FOR FRIDAY MORNINGS FROM 10AM 12 NOON TO ALLOW AN OPEN STUDIO. FINANCIAL MEMBERS USING THE STUDIO WILL INCURE THE USUAL $5.00 STUDIO FEE. ANY NEW PEOPLE YOU BRING ALONG MAY HAVE A FREE TRIAL, WITH CLAY BEING PROVIDED. THIS WILL ADD TO OUR OPEN STUDIO TIMES OF: TUESDAY 10-12NOON & FRIDAY 10-12NOON, FOR A SOCIAL MORNING OF CLAY OR FOR THE PURCHASE OF CLAY AND CHEMICALS. IF YOU CAN VOLUNTEER FOR THE ROSTER TO HELP US KEEP THE STUDIO OPEN DURING THESE TIMES IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. ALSO THE FLOOR SETTING ON THE FIRST SHELF WAS NOT SUPPORTED CORRECTLY AS PER THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS, AND PROPS WERE PLACED DIRECTLY ONTO THE FIBRE LINING. PLEASE LEAVE THE FIRST SHELF IN THE SETTING AS IS DO NOT CHANGE, AS SUPPORTS HAVE BEEN PLACED CORRECTLY. IF INTENDING TO FIRE NO. 3 GAS KILN, THE SHELVES WILL NEED TO BE SCRAPED BACK CLEAN ON THE KILN WASH SIDE AND A NEW COAT OF KILN WASH APPLIED TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE, THEN KILN SHELVES WILL HAVE TO BE PACKED WITH THE WARPED (OR UNFLAT SIDE) FACING OUT TO ALLOW THE SHELVES TO SETTLE AND FLATTEN OUT. YOU WILL NEED TO USE KILN WADDING ON THE PROPS FOR A STABLE KILN SETTING. NQPA Tuesday Social Pottery Group The Tuesday group, with Nic and friends, is an informal group which meets from 10am to 1pm every Tuesday at the NQPA studio, and anyone is welcome to come along. There is only the $5 charge for members to use the premises and we all help each other. No tutors, but everyone helps everyone and it is just a time to come along and enjoy yourself.
