About the Game Screen The game screen is where all the fighting is done. You can move each of your gnomes across the board. Each gnome has a maximum health of 100 (as depicted in the Active Tile Unit Information GUI) or 10 (as depicted over the unit.
Combat Progression During each player s turn, the player can move their units, have them fight opposing units or have them do nothing. Each unit can only move/attack once per turn. Once the active player is satisfied with their moves, they then select End Turn to complete that turn. Once the turn is over, it then becomes the other player s turn. This continues until one player s gnomes have all been defeated and the other army is victorious.
Moving Gnomes To move a gnome, you must first select it. Move the cursor to the active unit that you want to move and press one of the action keys. Once the unit is selected, the movement range will then be shown. Movement Range Moving the cursor will then depict a path that the gnome will take to reach its final destination. To move the gnome, place the cursor on the tile that you want to move the unit to and press one of the action keys. Movement Path Once the tile to move to is selected, the Options menu will appear. The options are: Move: This will move the unit to the selected tile (unit does not fight). Fight: This will move the unit to the selected tile and fight an adjacent enemy unit. Back: This will cancel any movement and the unit stays at its current tile. Fighting When a unit moves to a tile adjacent to an enemy unit, Fight will appear in the Options menu. Select this command to attack the adjacent enemy. If there are multiple enemies, you can select which enemy to attack by pressing the arrow key corresponding to the location of the enemy in regards to your current unit s position. Possible units to attack will be denoted by having an animated striped warning graphic on their respective tile.
Single Target Selection Multiple Target Selection After selecting the target to attack, your unit will begin its attack. The attack is shown in the Battle Animation. Note: You can exit out of the Battle Animation at any time by pressing the Escape key. Battle Animation If you reduce the enemy s health to 0, they will be defeated and will be vanquished from the battle field. This, however, is also true if the enemy defeats you in the battle, so choose your battles wisely. Characters Each level has two teams of gnomes, depicted by the colors red for Player 1 and blue for Player 2. The different types of gnome units and their stats are shown below. Garden Variety Gnome Basic unit. This gnome has average stats and can be useful both attacking and defending. Attack Defense Movement Rate 50 50 3
Short Temper Gnome Attacking unit. These are powerful attacking other units first but have a lower defensive skill, making them easy targets when defending. Attack Defense Movement Rate 60 40 2 Gnome-Wrecker Defensive unit. These gnomes can take a punch but don t deliver as much power back. Also a slower unit, so they generally stay on their side of the map. Good for trying to slow the opposition down. Attack Defense Movement Rate 40 60 1 Environments Grass Basic environment type. Easy for a gnome to maneuver through and provides a decent defense against attacking gnomes. Dirt Environment equivalent to Grass. It is easy for a gnome to move through these spaces and provides decent defense. Water Gnomes don t like this environment. It slows them down and also provides poor cover during attacks.
