Band Biography Salvation Rain is a bluegrass gospel band based out of Paintsville, KY. They consist of, Mike Jarrell, Guitar and vocals, Beth Castle, lead and harmony vocals, Chad Castle, Bass and vocals, Brad Powers, Banjo and vocals, and Mark Jackson, Mandolin and vocals. They are 5 best friends, and they feel God has placed them together to spread the gospel through song. They've been together since 2003, and have recently started traveling again after a long break. SR's music is a unique blend of contemporary bluegrass, blues, acoustic and contemporary gospel. To say they have a sound their own would be an understatement, since Guitar player, Mike Jarrell, and band manager, Ronnie Spriggs, write all of SR's original music. Their songs are special and unique, in that, they tell a story, they give hope and comfort, and people can relate to them so well. Salvation Rain has been blessed to travel as far as Wisconsin, to Maryland, to Florida, and in between, ministering in churches, festivals, arts centers, fair grounds, and other venues. They feel blessed to have been given the talent and the opportunity to travel and minister for God.
Beth Castle ~ Vocals Beth Spriggs castle of Paintsville Ky, is a harmony/lead vocalist for the group. She is married to her husband of eight years, Chad Castle, who is also a member of SR. Beth has been singing for as long as she can remember. She grew up singing in a gospel group with her dad, Ronnie Spriggs, recording her first album at age 10. She began singing with SR in 2003 and is one of the founding members of the group. Beth was featured on Don Rigsby's album, "The Voice of God" in a duet called "Mary Magdalene." Beth is also an active member and singer in her church, Hager Hill FWB. Some of Beth's musical influences are, The Issacs, Rhonda Vincent, and Allison Krauss. She accepted the Lord at age 11 and has dedicated her life to God through the music ministry.
Mike Jarrell ~ Guitar/Vocals/Song Writer Mike Jarrell is from Williamsport, Ky and one of the founding members of Salvation Rain. He has been a minister for 14 years and serves as assistant pastor at Boonscamp FWB. He and his wife Jamalyn have two children, Luke 8 and Lily 5. Mike writes a lot of the songs for Salvation Rain and credits them as a gift of God. "I love playing this style of music and my prayer is that it will be so anointed of God that it will affect every soul that hears it!"
Chad Castle ~ Bass/Vocals Chad Castle, of Paintsville, KY, is the bass player and a harmony vocalist for the group. Chad is married to band mate, Beth castle. Chad, unlike the rest of the group, didn't really grow up around music. But he always had a love for it. He became a founding member of SR while learning to play the bass. God blessed him to learn very quickly, and now he's a exceptional instrumentalist and vocalist. Chads 1939 Kay Bass is his "pride and joy," and you can find him playing it on his down time. He's also an active member at his church, as well as part of the church band, at Hager Hill FWB. Some of chads hobbies include fishing, playing his bass, and showing horses. Some of his musical influences are The Isaacs, Keith Whitley, and Barry Bales. In 2001, chad accepted Christ into his heart and shortly after started traveling with Salvation Rain and spreading the gospel through song.
Brad Powers ~ Banjo/Vocals Brad Powers from Paintsville, Ky has been in love with music for as long as he can remember and joined Salvation Rain in 2004 just a few months after the bands conception. As a young boy, he played guitar in church and with his family s gospel group, The Powers Family. His Saturday nights consisted of a tradition of front porch hymns with his very large family. However, it was a few years down the road at age nineteen when he got his first banjo and he joined SR only 5 months after getting it!! He has recorded on several projects for various artists and bands and continues to session work when called upon. Brad and his beautiful wife Amy have three wonderful boys, Kaiden, Karson and Jackson, and make their home just outside of Paintsville. He enjoys fishing, hunting and playing music in his spare time. His biggest influences are Earl Scruggs, J.D. Crowe and Ron Stewart. Brad was saved March 3, 1994 as a nine year old boy. "I am a living testimony to the keeping power of Jesus"
Mark Jackson ~ Mandolin/Vocals Mark Jackson of Weber City Va. plays mandolin for the group. Mark grew up in Hurley Va. And has been around music since the day he was born. His father traveled for many years playing, singing and writing gospel music. His father's songs have been recorded by well-known artist such as Larry Sparks and Doyle Lawson. Mark accepted Jesus Christ in 1987 when he was 16 years old and it was then that he took interest in music and began to learn how to play. By the time he was 18 he was in his first band and began to travel with The Jackson Harmony which was a family group and was on the road until September of 2002. Mark later met Salvation Rain and became a huge fan and a great friend. He would go help them out from time to time and in 2009 he decided to join the SR full time. Mark says" When I first met these guys I felt like I knew them my whole life. God brought them my way at the right time. They have been a huge blessing to me and my family!" Mark's hobbies are playing paintball tournaments and bass fishing. Mark has been married to his wife Michelle since 1994 and they love raising their son Conner and love being a part of Salvation Rain.
