KAORI PRINTS & EMBROIDERIES The inspiration for this seasons collection is the artisan and ancient methods of printing and dying cloth, so inherent in the history of textiles and dating back to the 8th century. In particular the complex and traditional technique of binding, stitching, folding and twisting fabrics before dying that are so associated as the art form of the Japanese Kimono. It is this layering of pattern and colour that creates a base for many of the new designs. Free flowing florals in cool watercolours and detailed botanical drawings are combined with this layering, creating a fresh, modern take on a very ancient tradition. The colour palette has elements of vibrancy combined with soft, washed shades. From violet, indigo and jade through to acacia and rose pink, as well as soft plasterly shades and grey. There is a depth to each cloth with layers of pattern and a presence of the importance of dying - from ombres and watercoloured grounds as well as new techniques of over-dying. MOKUREN A fabulous digitally printed cotton with graphic botanical ferns and leaves overlaid with vivacious flowers and printed on smooth cotton. Available in 2 colourways - graphite and indigo. JINDAI A crisp monochromatic design of painterly ferns, leaves and stems printed on cotton. Available in four colourways - indigo, heather, moss and graphite. HIYOKU A new technique with this double dyed cloth - the effect is a fabulously soft, vintage feel on washed linen. Availble in five colourways - cobalt, jade, apple, lavender, peony, graphite and acacia.
