The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Mark Haddon Adventure/Mystery Mark Haddon is a great author as he is very credible in his characterisation of a boy with autism. It s a wonderful read and I could not put it down. Theodore Boone: The Accused John Grisham Adventure/Law (3 rd book and the best in this series) A fabulous author and he is very good at making little twists in the plot. I could not put it down. The Hobbit J.R.R. Tolkien Fantasy/Adventure The great thing about this book is that it does what I love about books better than any other it takes you into a world so interesting and exciting, so that at any point in your day when you re fed up or tired, you can be somewhere else. Eragon Christopher Paolini Fantasy (part of the Inheritance Series) He writes the Inheritance series with great detail and he leaves clues along the way. He encourages the reader to get involved in the story. The NeverEnding Story Michael Ende Fantasy This book is an amazing read, as it holds lots of twists and turns. The characters are vivid and you ll just want to hop into the story with them. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III Cressida Cowell Adventure (Series) This is an amazing adventure book incorporating humour and fantasy. It is a book about how a boy tries to live up to his father s expectations in a world dominated by dragons. I am Number Four Pittacus Lore Science Fiction/Adventure Series If you like aliens, you ll like this series. There are aliens disguised as as humans, while being hunted.

Harlequin Bernard Cornwell History/Adventure A really good book that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. The Enemy Charlie Higson Escapism A gruesome, funny, tense book. I couldn t put this down. A Cat Named Bob James Bowen Non-Fiction A great true story and follows a terrific journey The Northern Lights Philip Pullman Part of the Series His Dark Materials He writes in great detail going further into describing everything. Some of the words are difficult, but this is a great book. Finding the Fox Ali Sparkes The first book in the Shapeshifter Series This writer makes some things in the story mysterious, which makes it really original. Gangsta Granny David Walliams Humour This is an extremely funny book, as it is about a boy who finds out his grandmother is an amazing thief. There are many twists and turns. The Burning Bridge John Flanagan The Rangers Apprentice Series This is such a great book because after the first book of mostly explaining about Will s life, an adventure starts when a huge bridge is set to be built. Billionaire Boy David Walliams Humour This is an interesting book because it s not too long, but it s really descriptive. Our Island Story Henrietta Marshall Non-Fiction This is a book about the history of England. It makes you feel more interested in history. There are also poems in the sources.

The Red Pyramid Rick Riordan Part of The Kane Chronicles An exciting, adventurous book. Survival Chris Ryan The first book in the Alpha Force Series I found this book amazing because it s about teenagers drifting to an island to survive with great dangers. You can t put it down because you always want to know what s The Silver Sword (Several boys suggested this!) happening next. Ian Serrailier Historical Fiction This is set in Poland. It s a good book because you can really visualise everything. It starts off in WWII when Germany had occupied Poland. I used to find reading a challenge, but this book changed that completely. The Harry Potter Series J.K. Rowling Magic and Adventure This is an amazing series because it is fast-paced and isn t too long. It is also good because it is realistic, but the magic adds to it. I liked the first book the most. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas John Boyne Historical Fiction This book is so powerful and clear. This book can t be put down, it is so good. It is touching and sad. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part- Time Indian Sherman Alexie Modern young adult fiction This book is really good because it always has new and exciting things to it. It is presented in two points of view which makes it amazing. Lord of the Rings Trilogy J.R.R. Tolkien Fantasy A fantastic trilogy, you can easily be immersed in J.R.R. Tolkien s world and the characters are amazing!

Wolf Brother Michelle Paver Action/Adventure, part of the series, Chronicles of Ancient Darkness This is the first book in the series and it made me continue reading. It always kept me on the edge of my seat. It is exciting and makes you want to be the main character. It s also action-packed and gets straight Artemis Fowl Opal Deception Eoin Colfer Action/Humour/Adventure/Action, part of series of 8 books to the point. This book is part of a series. There is a young, criminal mastermind and his butler who easily defeat the police forces around the globe. It kept me up all night I couldn t put it down! Hitler s Angel William Osborne WWII Historical Fiction This is a challenging text, but it is very interesting. It features everything from action to romance and it is impossible to put down. A Street Cat Named Bob James Bowen Non-Fiction This is a story about James Bowen who is homeless and helps a homeless cat from the street. However, the cat is the one who takes him off the street. This book makes you view life differently and wonder about people s lives. Born To Run Michael Morpurgo Adventure This is probably the only book which has made me forget everything and just lie on the sofa reading it. This is a very positive book in reasonably simple language. It makes you develop feelings for the dog in the book.

Northern Lights Philip Pullman Fantasy, part of the series, His Dark Materials This book is the first book in the series, but the further you go in the series the better it gets. The Hunger Games Series Suzanne Collins Dystopian This series is grippingly unputdownable. I think the second book is the most powerful. It is a mixture between love, violence and mind tricks. I didn t enjoy reading before, but I finished the first book in under a week. Animal Farm George Orwell Dystopian This book shows how corruption is inevitable and how no system is perfect. Also, it is very well-written and makes you feel both angry and happy. The Young Bond Series (several boys suggested this) Charlie Higson Action Series This series is a take on a young superhero at Eton College called James Bond. It is a very witty and exciting text. Life and Laughing Michael McIntyre Autobiography He has a very funny life and way of looking at the world. His perspective is very entertaining. The Borrowers Mary Norton Adventure A really interesting book that makes you think there could be borrowers in your own house.
