Mission Statement To provide a collaborative platform for advancing solutions and informing global technology policymaking through a consensus of sound technical and scientific knowledge in the areas of internet governance, cybersecurity, privacy, and inclusion. 2

Global IEEE Internet Community Through the IEEE Internet Initiative, global technical and policy communities can work together to improve internet governance. Inform, debate, share findings, and improve decisions Help foster trustworthy technology solutions and best practices We enable bi-directional dialogue to encourage online collaboration and information exchange. Community participants can connect via global conferences and workshops on internet governance, cybersecurity, privacy, and inclusion. 4

Initiative at a Glance POLICY TRACK INCLUSION TRACK TECHNOLOGY TRACK Connect technologists with policymakers and other stakeholders to identify highest priority issues and develop associated action plans and position statements. Collaborate to develop and implement regional internet advancement road maps that support an inclusive, safe and trustworthy internet. Monitor and assess the potential impacts of technology developments related to the internet to make it more accessible and trustworthy. 6

Policy Track: Internet Policy Engagements and Contributions Charter Connect technologists and policymakers, to identify highest priority issues and develop associated action plans Develop position statements, policy communications and white papers Participate and represent the voice of the technical community in global and regional internet policy forums and processes Planned Activities Organize Experts in Technology and Policy (ETAP) Forums (e.g., in Africa and Central/South America) Participate and contribute to key internet policy meetings/events (e.g., WSIS Forum, Regional and Global IGF meetings, UN STI Forum, etc.) Develop IEEE Policy Documents Continuously monitor the global internet policy environment for important potential IEEE engagement opportunities 7

Technology Track: Strategic Technology Enablement Charter Monitor key technology developments related to the internet (e.g., increasing trust and inclusion, digital identity, blockchain, Frugal 5G, etc.) Liaise with relevant IEEE technical communities and initiatives across the Institute (e.g., Technical Activities, Standards, Humanitarian Activities, etc.) to harness their expertise in addressing specific issues in internet governance, cybersecurity, privacy, and inclusion Planned Activities Organize and coordinate the development of white papers and related webinars, articles, etc. on technologies that significantly impact internet policy discussions (e.g., algorithmic decision making, blockchain, symbiotic autonomous systems, etc.) Ensure participation of technical communities from across the IEEE, such as societies, councils, and other affinity groups 11
