Coherent Specialty CO 2 Laser THz Laser SIFIR-50 Stabilized Integrated FIR (THz) Laser System The SIFIR-50 Advantage The SIFIR-50 Laser System brings reliable, easy operation, stable output, and outstanding beam quality to the scientific and commercial THz application user. The SIFIR-50 package is also rugged and transportable. The SIFIR-50 is an optically-pumped THz laser consisting of a sealed-off pump laser, a frequency standard, and a THz laser cavity. The pump laser inside the SIFIR-50 features an efficient, folded resonator contained within an all-metal housing. Metal seals insure both long operational and shelf lifetimes. This technology has stood the test of time for more then a decade. This structural approach gives the SIFIR-50 s pump laser its outstanding beam quality and stability. The controller module contains all of the electronics necessary to support the laser head, including the solid-state RF power supply for the pump laser, the pump laser frequency control electronics, and the user interface displays. The superior technology and performance of the SIFIR-50 laser has made it the THz source of choice for a wide range of demanding applications: From a 5-year atmospheric measurement mission on NASA s AURA satellite to characterizing advanced next-generation devices and materials for telecommunications. Available in two configurations, straight and folded, and in standard-wave or long-wave options, the SIFIR-50 is a state-of-the-art THz source. Coherent Specialty CO 2 Laser Tunable Laser GEM Select 50 Specialty CO2 Waveguide Laser The GEM Select 50 Advantage The GEM Select 50 Specialty laser brings field-proven technology to the laboratory or field application. Developed over years of testing under severe operating conditions, and designed to be operator-friendly, the GEM Select 50 offers high beam quality and stability to meet the most demanding requirements. The clean layout of the laser s rear panel offers immediate access to the interlock control, the key-operated on-off switch, and status indicators. The superior performance of the GEM product line is demonstrated in high output power per unit volume, obtained with the parallel resonant, distributed inductance excitation scheme integrated into all GEM lasers. The optional PZT tuning mirror enables fine frequency control about line center. The GEM Select 50 is engineered, as are all our laser products, to deliver years of reliable service. Additional features provide flexibility for your unique requirements. With the optional grating tuner, over 60 discrete rotational lines are attainable over the 9.2 to 10.8 micron region, with the strongest lines delivering over 40 watts. The optional PZT cavity-tuning mirror makes the GEM Select 50 an ideal source for CW heterodyne laser radars. FEATURES Compact Size and Lightweight Outstanding Beam Quality and Stability Permanently Sealed-Off Operation; No Gas Consumption Rugged, Field-Proven Design All-Metal Seals for Long Life Fixed Linear Polarization Wavelength Tuning Option Available

GEM Select 50 GEM Select 50 Specialty Laser Options FEATURES Tunable or Fixed Wavelength Full-Range 9 µm Operation PZT Cavity Tuning Variable Output Power Autonomous Frequency/ Amplitude Control External Modulation Input Internal Pointer Various options can be added to the baseline Coherent GEM Select 50 Specialty laser to fill a wide range of applications. If you require assistance in selecting options, provide us with your requirements and we will work with you to set the specifications and design. Tunable Wavelength This option allows wavelength tuning from 9.2 to 10.8 microns. A high-resolution grating and a calibrated, manually-driven differential micrometer permit accurate selection of individual rotational lines. Output power with this option is specified as >40W at the strongest line; typical representative output powers can be found in the table. Fixed Wavelength This option is recommended when fixed wavelength operation is required (specify wavelength when ordering, factory set). Output power is dependent on rotational line selected, with strongest lines producing greater than 40 watts. (See table for typical power.) Full-Range 9 µm Operation This option optimizes performance in the 9P rotational branch (9.4 to 9.8 µm) and allows operation over the entire wavelength range from 9.2 to 10.8 µm. PZT Cavity Tuning The PZT cavity-tuning option allows fine frequency control within any given rotational line by adjustment of the cavity length. The typical tuning range is ±50 MHz about the center line. User supplies 0 to 10V signal to adjust the cavity length. Variable Output Power The variable output option allows adjustment of output power from its maximum value to under 50% of full power. The actual adjustment range is dependent on the operating wavelength. Input power is also reduced. Autonomous Frequency/ Amplitude Control This option allows the laser to operate with ultra-stable frequency and amplitude output. The use of an integrated microprocessor servo-loop system provides automatic control of the laser s output frequency and amplitude by applying a ~1 MHz peak-to-peak dither to the cavity PZT, in conjunction with phase-sensitive-detection for feedback control. External Modulation Input This option allows the user to operate the laser in pulse or enhanced pulse mode via an external TTL input after the initial 5-second start-up delay. (This option cannot be used in conjunction with the Variable Power Option.) Internal Pointer This option provides an internal, visible aiming beam that is collinear with the laser s output beam.

Coherent - DEOS CO2 Laser RF-Excited, Frequency-Doubled MID-IR-2 RF-Excited Frequency- Doubled CO 2 WaveGuide Laser The MID-IR-2 Advantage The Coherent-DEOS MID-IR-2 RF-excited, frequency-doubled CO2 waveguide laser system brings short-pulse, high pulse-repetitionfrequency (PRF) capability to the scientific/ aerospace/industrial user at mid-ir wavelengths (4.6 µm 5.4 µm). Ruggedized for the most severe environments, it is the standard of the industry for demanding field applications. The pump laser of the MID-IR-2 features an efficient folded-resonator design contained within an all-metal housing. Metal seals insure both long operational and shelf lifetimes. This CO2 short-pulse pump laser also incorporates a patented intracavity, electro-optic modulation technique that produces short optical pulses with widths of less than 15 nanoseconds, Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) and a PRF variable from 0 Hz to 100 khz. The pulsed output produces multi-kilowatt peak power optical pulses which are efficiently frequency doubled, yielding a rated average power of 2W at 100 khz PRF. An option also enables the same unit to operate in a continuous-wave (CW) mode with an average output power that exceeds 100 milliwatts. The MID-IR-2 laser system consists of two modules: A laser head module and a control/ power supply (C/PS) module. The laser head module includes the gain cell, resonator optics, EO modulator driver system, cavity-tuning PZT and a patented high-damage-threshold frequency doubler, all in a sealed metal housing. The rack-mountable C/PS module contains the control electronics, RF power supply, associated DC power supplies, safety interlocks and key switch. The two modules are connected with a rugged cable system available in standard or custom lengths. The user can interface with the laser system through controls provided on the front panel of the C/PS module, enabling the laser head to be remotely located. The all-solid-state RF power supply, contained within the C/PS module, can be operated either in a CW mode or in an enhanced-pulse modulated mode, allowing the user to obtain higher peak-power performance. The system also includes an inte-grated DC supply, allowing the MID-IR-2 to be operated from standard 200-240 VAC input power. The superior performance of the MID-IR-2 laser is demonstrated in the high output per unit volume obtained under technology protected by Coherent-DEOS patents. FEATURES Pulse Width to <12 nsec Adjustable Pulse Rate to 100 khz Grating Selected Fixed Wavelength Outstanding Beam Quality and Stability Enhanced-Pulse Capability Internal/External Trigger Capability Cavity-Tuning PZT Compact Size and Rugged Integrated DC/RF Supply
