Freedom of Information Request Reference No: I note you seek access to the following information: Please supply details of red light cameras in the force that have attracted the most revenue fines over the past five years. Please provide the location of the camera, the number of motorists fined for driving through red lights, and the amount of revenue generated. Please break this down year-on-year, by financial year if possible, from 2010-2011 to 2015-2016. Apologies, further to my request yesterday, it is the top ten highest earning cameras that I require details of. DECISION I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find attached information pursuant to your request above. The attached data provides a breakdown of paid Conditional Offers of Fixed Penalties for Red Light Camera Offences in London area for the last 5 years. We are unable to provide information on the total amount of revenue generated from red light camera offences as a percentage of these cases are referred for prosecution through the courts system. The details of any fines issued following the defendants being found guilty in these cases is held by HMCTS (Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service). It must be understood that the data is solely for fines paid, not total enforcements per camera so there could be higher violations at one site that fell within the criteria by which a driving course could be offered as an alternative to a Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty. Please also note that monies received from all fines are paid to Her Majesty's Treasury Department. The other thing to note is that enforcement is likely to influence the deterrent effect. Drivers who therefore regularly drive a particular route and who receive enforcement action for contravening a red light at a particular site will be more cautious when driving there in future.
