Science and Technology: Fall 2017 Courses must be taken for a letter grade in order to count towards the ILR Distribution Requirement. Courses in the biological or physical sciences or sciences and technology offered at Cornell (or completed as AP courses in high school with approval by the appropriate department at Cornell) will satisfy this requirement. The intent of the requirement is to enable ILR undergraduates to understand and appreciate the perspectives, models, values, and issues associated with science and technology. Students may submit a request to the Office of Student Services to have a Cornell University course added to one of the lists. A request must include a full course description and a syllabus outlining the course readings Department No. Title American Studies (AMST) Bolded courses are offered in Fall 2017 Inventing an Information Society (ECE, ENGRG, HIST 2920, INFO 2921, STS 2921) 3911 Science in the American Polity, 1960-Present (GOVT 3091, STS 3911) Anthropology (ANTHR) 1200 Ancient Peoples & Places (ARKEO 1200) 1300 Human Evolution : Genes, Behavior, and the Fossil Record 2200 Early People: The Archaeological & Fossil Record (ARKEO 2200) 2750 Human Biology and Evolution (NS 2750) 3390 Primate Behavior and Ecology Applied & Engineering Physics (AEP) 1100 Laser and Photonics (ENGRI 1100) Archaeology (ARKEO) 1200 Ancient Peoples & Places (ANTHR 1200) 2200 Early People: The Archaeological & Fossil Record (ANTHR 2200) Astronomy (ASTRO) 1101 From New Worlds to Black Holes 1102 Our Solar System - No Lab 1103 Nature of the Universe (co-meets ASTRO 1101) - Includes Lab 1104 From New Worlds to Black Holes - Includes Lab 1105 The Universe - No Lab 1106 Relativity, Cosmology, and Black Holes 1107 The Universe (summer semester) Includes Lab 1195 Observational Astronomy 2201 The History of the Universe 2202 A Spacecraft Tour of the Solar System 2211 Astronomy: Stars, Galaxies and Cosmology Biology: General Courses (BIOG) 1101/1102 Biological Sciences Lectures (2 credits) 1103/1104 Biological Sciences, Laboratory (2 credits) 1105/1106 Introductory Biology, Individual Instruction 1107 Intro to Biology I from Atom to Cell 1108 Intro to Biology II from Cell to Biosphere 1140 Foundations of Biology as of FA 15 Ecology & Evol.
